Big Sky Predictions 10-24

Or I guess Week 8. Anyway, 39-18 is where I'm at for the season. My attempt at perfection but these games are getting harder to pick.
EWU at UNC---Don't look now but the Bears have two conference wins. They are in the middle of the conference race and if they win out, they could be in the playoffs. The Eagles have an easier way to get to the playoffs and it doesn't include losing this game...EWU 38, UNC 21.
ISU at SAC---Early on this looked like a great game. Now due to the misfortunes of both the Bengals and the Hornets, this has turned into a who-cares type of game. But someone has to win and someone has to lose and the Bengals have shown more life---ISU 38, SAC 20.
East Tennessee State at MSU---What a better way to get back to winning than to schedule a new, rebuilding program. The Bobcats need something after last week's dreadful defensive performance. Not that this will be much better but it should be a win...MSU 58, East Tennessee State 31.
UND at UM---The Dakotans are still trying to find their magic they have lost since the Idaho State game. The Grizzlies are trying to get well and recover some of that speed they had. The Dakotans are recovering from heartache, the Grizzlies had a week to prepare...UM 35, UND 17.
PSU at CP---The Mustangs have played every conference opponent pretty close but have been on the losing end too many times. They need this win in the worst way. Unfortunately the Vikings are playing some great football and don't show signs of slowing down...PSU 38, CP 35.
SUU at UCD---The Aggies have a good win over Northern Arizona, unfortunately that is their only win. The Thunderbirds are slowly becoming a team to reckon with, having won their last two games by 44-0 scores. Why not make it three in a row...SUU 44, UCD 0.
WSU at NAU---The Wildcats have been on a roller coaster of sorts but still think this could be their year. The Lumberjacks would like one win to get their season restarted. Hard to imagine that the Wildcats seem strong and the Lumberjacks seem to be down. But not this time...NAU 29, WSU 25.

Portland St. 35-28 Cal Poly — A must-win for the 'Stangs, but their D just isn't good enough
Suutah 30-14 Davis — Suutah's last exhibition before the real games start
Idaho St. 28-20 Sac State — A battle of lousy teams now playing water boys at quarterback
Weber 24-31 NAU — Go with the Skydome, I guess.
NoDak 10-27 Montana — Good thing the Griz aren't a running team
EWU 45-35 NoCo — A proverbial trap game for the Eags, but they'll get past it
ETSU 10-63 Montana St. — The baby Bucs have an offense even MSU can shut down

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we manage to score 35.

CP - going with an upset just because.
SUU - should roll if they keep playing like they have been.
Sac - toss up, going with the home team.
WSU - because why not?
UM - toss up, going with the home team.
EWU - Eags roll.
MSU - a total laugher.

I'll be flabbergasted.
I'm thinking more like 24-17 or 24-21.

CP — because they can win and if they don't win it will get very ugly in SLO
SUU — SUU is underrated and UC Davis is very bad (until they play CP at which point they are tops in the BSC)
ISU — two awful defenses and one good offense
NAU — The Weber bandwagon will breakdown in Flagstaff
UM — because it's in Missoula....really that's the only reason I have
EWU — They win by 21 at least
MSU — MSU still hurting over last week...refocused they win by 14 over this week

Typical of SH always picking against SUU, wonder if he is just bitter after the last game we played

. In regards to my picks:
-EWU: Bears wont be able to keep up with the Eagles
-SUU: Not a gimmie by any means but if we keep rolling like we have I cant see us losing.
-MSU: Cats pad their W column stats, they still need a D badly though.
-PSU: Vikings are on a roll, will depend a lot on which Mustang team shows up. This game really could go either way but will give the nod to the Vikings since they are on a roll.
-ISU: Cellar Dweller Duel, Bengals are definitely looking the better out of the two teams.
-Montana: Bye week + Home Game should mean a Griz win, however NoDak is a solid team should be close.
-NAU: Good rebound by the Cats over the last 2 games especially the upset at Montana. NAU is home however and tough to beat in the Skydome. My second of two games that really could go either way but nod to the Jacks for being home.

SH has a hard on for SUU. Probably because of something that happened back in 1984.

If MSU/ETSU isn't a rout, the Bobcats are in
serious trouble.

I am probably underestimating how bad ETSU is.

Ash won't let it turn into a rout. My guess is we don't see our starters after half time...at least I hope.

I already told you guys what the deal was. It's not my fault if you have a sieve for a memory.
If you can't keep a 4-6 team from winning your conference championship, you suck. PERIOD.

So, Something from 1984 is in your butt and you're still making predictions because of it? What a derp.

Well we handily beat Davis 34-6 so at least we proved how silly his prediction was, looking forward to a tough game against Cal Poly next week!

6-1 this week, missed the ISU game. Got the PSU/CP score correct, though. 45-19 for the year.

Well almost got the CP upset called. Whiffed bad on the WSU pick. In the "whose backup QB is better" game, the Hornets true FR Ketteringham looked decent. Good arm, decent mobility, a lot of upside with this kid.
And WTF happened at EWU? A late FG to beat UNC!

NoCo's looked decent out of nowhere the last couple weeks. They also had 2 return touchdowns in the third quarter.

The scary thing in that NoCo/EWU game that people seem to overlook is EWU was up 12 with 5 minutes left in the game. The Bears did not pack it in, thinking how great it was to have come so close. They got a TD, then recovered the onside kick, then scored another TD, and missed the 2-point conversion. Had they made the conversion, and EWU gets the FG, that game is in overtime. Not too bad for a team that no one had on their radar. This was supposed to be the game the Bears come crashing back down to earth.

This. Looking at their schedule I thought they were a paper tiger but they have some talent.
We were atrocious on special teams. Not only the punt and kick returns for touchdowns and the first onside kick recovered in conference this year, but we had our first extra point blocked and missed our second.
That was our back up kicker (#1 was hurt early in the season). We've now only attempted two field goals on the year. After the missed 2nd extra point our punter took over XP duties and he kicked the game winning 43 yarder.
Good showing by the Bears but the game really shouldn't have been that close.
