Nope - struggled against a horrible UD team, and then gets run off the field by an Ivy League team that itself got thumped by a middling Lehigh team the week before. That's not a good team.

Not a good team that got a whole lot worse when it lost it's NFL-caliber QB last week.

There was only a 6.93% chance of Robertson getting even an invite to a camp, at least as a player.

Atta boy Griz!
That was not a top 25 team I watched tonight. Backup QB no Robertson. They missed their huge o tackle too. Seaton.
Game really not that important though. They have 16 days off now to get healthy and prepare for W&M.

I watched them play UD and was thoroughly unimpressed even WITH Robertson. Without him, they'll be lucky to win 3 games in the CAA.

Well Nova will still be ranked in the old Sports Network poll and the Coaches poll next week.
But are they one of the best 25 FCS teams? No.
Like GF said, UD would be happy to be just mediocre this year and almost took down Nova. It's pretty darn hard to replace a Payton Award QB with a redshirt FR. Throw in missing both your OT's on what coming into the year was a suspect OL and the hill gets much steeper to climb.
They'll be ranked till they play again, but lose that one, in which they'll most likely be underdogs and they won't be part of the discussion the rest of the year.

It is a bad loss only if they lose 2 more and don't win the CAA. Trust me, Tribe fans are expecting to go there dominate the game for 53-54 minutes and then go conservative and allow Villanova to drive the length of the field in the last 2 minutes to win at the end. It is what has happened the last 2 years. Much like the Delaware/Villanova series, the Tribe likely should have won the last 2 years, but Nova' makes the plays at the end and we don't. Plus, we have 2 tough games to play before we can even prepare for Villanova which is a significant disadvantage. If the Tribe is clearly better we will win, but we won't get any favors up there for sure. Villanova is still likely a top 3-4 team in the league. JMU, Stony Brook, and the Tribe are probably the others. Not sure about UR, NH or Delaware yet.

Losing to an Ivy = automatic drop out of top 25.

So should an Ivy ever be ranked in the top 25?
I rarely do because of the playoff thing.

Not unless they start playing and beating teams outside of the Ivy and PL.
2011 - Harvard goes 7-0 in Ivy, loses to Holy Cross
2010 - Penn goes 7-0 in Ivy, loses to villanova
2009 - Penn goes 7-0 in Ivy, loses to villanova AND Lafayette
That's when I came to realize the Ivy is probably on par with the Pioneer.

No need to worry about UD. Our DL is good, but you can pick on our MLB (just send a reputable pass catcher through the middle, our guy won't be able to keep up), and our young DBs (in addition to our older Dave Brock), can be burned. And, in a battle of who wants to lose games in the last few minutes, always put your money on Weaver.
Next year, though, is our year...assuming that we find a QB, assuming that our OL continues to develop and gets more coordinated and versatile, assuming that our DBs grow up and learn the game, assuming that we get a TE or two, assuming that we get a whole bunch of effective WRs, assuming that our MLB has some sort of surgery that allows him to become another person with more speed, and assuming that our coaching staff actually rolls out a game plan to win games, and assuming that our coaches actually adapt their game plan during the game to counter what the opponents are doing.
Yeah, we should be fine.

It was Penn's first victory over Villanova since Oct. 14, 1911

To be fair, it looks like they didn't play at all between 1911 and 1980.

No.
They weren't impressive with Robertson, and now without him it's clear they aren't a top 25 team

NEVER, why rank a team if they don't participate in the playoffs?

Right now, no. But I really want to see what happens in the W&M game now. Talley noted that they had to dumb down the playbook for rfrQB Bednarczyk. All I want to see is improvement from him, even if Nova loses along the way.
