Charleston Southern's Experienced Trio of 6th Year Players

Charleston Southern's Prater (TE), Perera (WR), Glears (WR) Bring Vast Experience as Sixth-Year Players - Post and Courier (Charleston, SC)
“All three of these guys are major leaders in our program,” (CSU) Head Coach Jamey Chadwell said Thursday at CSU’s football media day. “When you have guys on your team that have been through as much adversity as these three have, the younger players can learn so much from their experiences. Not only are all three very productive players on the field but their presence and leadership off the field is a tremendous asset. Their influence is huge in our program.”
“It’s been crazy, so up and down for me, but it’s been a process that has helped me grow and mature as a person,” (CSU WR, Nathan) Perera said. “I’m here because I believe in our coaches and this team and I want to be a part of something special. This is probably my last chance to play football, and if it is I want to finish it in the best way possible.”
“It’s been a long process but I’ve stayed positive,” (CSU WR, Kevin) Glears said. “It’s crazy how God works. Sometimes things don’t go as we plan, but we have to stick to what God has in store for us and it all works out. Luckily, I had the grayshirt year and was able to redshirt and be able to have this one last chance to play. These young guys inspire me and keep me going. They’re so talented and they push me to another level. I have to prove myself every day, prove that I still have it.”
“It is kind of crazy to see where this program has come in five years,” said (CSU TE, Nathan) Prater, who was married this summer and plans to attend physical therapy school at MUSC after the season. “Nathan (Perera) and Kevin and I have seen the worst of the program (0-11, 2011) and we’ve seen the best to where it is now. We have a pretty cool perspective that we can share to some of the younger guys. Sometimes we hear them complaining about little things and we can sit them down and explain what it was when we got here. I think, looking at this team, we’re really close and that family atmosphere is something I wanted to be a part of for as long as I could.”
“We’ve been close and we won 18 games over the last two years but have nothing to show for it,” Prater said. “One more chance for me to win a ring, that’s what drives me and all of these other seniors. We want a championship as part of our legacy.”

You get 4 years to play, but you can also be redshirted, which adds a year (5). Then, you can get a medical redshirt, which would add another year (6).

The greyshirt is a whole different animal and is complicated to explain. Google it. For some, it is also difficult to understand.

Just sayin....figured the "Lords of Discipline" wouldn't tolerate child rape or cover it up. But then again...guess they didn't want El Cid to get its sterling reputation tarnished.

But we do have a dance planned. Right around 10pm....50 yard line...Johnson Hagood Stadium....September 26th, 2015. Third year in a row. And then yall will cancel the series and never want to play us again.

You care...or you wouldn't be on a CSU thread posting.

Hope your team is ready for September 26th. 3 in a row is gonna suck.

Ha yeah. Your attempts at humor are lame. Your jokes are boring.

Yeah Citadel has an all time winning record. You should. 1st time was David Dowds final game before being fired...and vs a 34 scholarship team. 2003 was Jay Mills first game in a huge rebuild...34 scholarships.

Then CSU got fully funded. Got the depth. And since then....different story. 3-3.

Citadel SHOULD BE better. Huge stadium. Public funding. Far more alumni. More history. Better facilities.

But you arent. You aren't better than CSU. Our stadium is a joke. We have almost no history. Half our alumni don't know we have a football team. Our funding is less than Byrnes High School. BUT...we're beating you.

You aren't better than Furman. You haven't beat Wofford since...ever? And you SURE aren't even in Coastal Carolinas league. Wofford and Furman keep you on the schedule because they have to. We do it because it's fun beating you. And Coastal...they blew you out once and dropped you off their schedule.

Citadel was once the premier FCS/1-AA program in this state. Well....not really. Furman was. But yall were close. Then Wofford moved up to D1. Then CSU got equal scholarships. Then Coastal Carolina started football.

Now....you might be 5th best in SC. And it's a big day when JHG stadium is half full.

We'll find out September 26th.

But Citadel is NEVER returning to being the top FCS team in SC or the SoCon. That we know.

And you read it all. That we know too. No one else did. But you did.

So Citadel is going to surpass CSU, Furman, WOFFORD....AND COASTAL? Hmmm. Don't bet on it.

You can't redshirt for the hell of it and then get a medical, by rule

Jesus won't answer. He doesn't take calls from Citadel people, or anyone else who covered for child rapists.
