One reason I'm entertaining hope for McNeese

It's Daniel Sams. McNeese does not normally have a dual threat at the QB position and I honestly think this guy may be the best athlete anybody in FCS is going to have at QB this year. Yes I know that's hard to know but I wouldn't be surprised. Last year when they lost to Sam Houston State I thought at the time that one factor in that was that McNeese coaching staff insisted on rotating quarterbacks. To me it was obvious that Sam Houston State's defense had difficulty with Sams because they wanted to pressure and when they did that he'd elude the rush and make plays.
No question he's extremely dangerous running the football. He was McNeese's leading rusher last year in spite of essentially missing the last three games with injury (all McNeese losses). And in 2013 he was Kansas State's second leading rush with 807 yards at 5.3 yards per carry. Also tied for the team lead in TDs with 11. He averaged 6.8 yards per carry for McNeese last year.
Last year he joined McNeese in August so he didn't have time to learn the offense before the season. He only 47% of his passes. But during the prior year at Kansas State, though he didn't throw a whole lot of passes, he had a 72% completion percentage and a 153 QB rating. So I am interested in what he can do now that he's had a year in the system and will have had Spring training camp and another August camp prior to this season. If he turns out to be able to throw the ball even reasonably effectively, look out. He does have a cannon arm too. Physically, he's got it all. And he's going to have an offensive line that only lost one person off the two deep from a group that was able to play head up with Nebraska last year. Fingers crossed. Minimal injury problems please.
I don't think the videos below do complete justice to how athletic Sams is but I'll post them anyway.
