So UNC only earned $1,000 less than EWU?
Pretty impressive for the Montana schools
Pretty pathetic for Weber

Playoff money goes to the NCAA so I don't think it's included in the revenue and if it is it shouldn't be.

Interesting website. The latest data is 2007 and it is not complete; some instituions do not appear. It is not clear what is included in revenues, but it is most likely home ticket revenues and road payouts. Presumably, the rules are the same for all.
In 2007, Montana had seven regular season homegames and one home playoff game. As previously stated, I don't believe playoff teams realize much revenue, hardly enough to cover their hosting expenses after the NCAA covers the visitors espenses and takes their cut. Delaware is the only FCS program I found to exceed Montana's revenue. It's interesting to see how UM and MSU compare to several western FBS team revenues, in spite of the latter's TV and bowl game revenues.

but how many home games did these OTHER schools have?? maybe they had 5 or 6. So Montana has a leg up on the fiscal competition EVERY SEASON bc they have a shit load of home games. btw I would bet you anything the UofM found a way to make at least a fair slice of profit on the playoff game it hosted in 2007.
I take my hat off to Montana for winning consistanly, & filling up the stadium. this "revenue" thing seems to be a combo of filling up the stadium & snack bar/jerseys/tshirts ect. Montana must have found some way to trim the fat and find the best way to run the program like a business, bc the profit margin for a div1aa is through the roof!

The NCAA sets the price for the playoff tickets and gets that money. Playoff games are not a money maker for UM as they get the concession money and of course a portion of the sales of merch but they gauranteed bid money has to come out of that as well. I'll repeat that if you think the playoff gams are a money maker then you are mistaken. Now as far as the regular season games yeah those are the money makers because of the season ticket sales and the other things that go along with it. That is specifically why UM tries to make sure and schedule 7 home games every year. The reason other schools in the conference do not have 7 home games is because of the pay days from the big schools. UM makes more from a home game than we can get from the PAC 10's and the Big 10's so that is why that happens.

The number of home games is pretty irrelevent. Teams that have fewer home games have road game payouts, or body bag games. These are more valuable than home games for all but Montana. The Montana athletic dept. gets no money from concessions (that goes to the food service) and no money from gear (that goes to the bookstore). I can't tell whether this in included in the source database.
The playoff ticket prices are limited to $25 by the NCAA and the playoff games are the only ones that don't sell out. They are over Thanksgiving or hunting season and many of the students and some of the high number of season ticket holders (19,000+) take a break. They are on short notice; one cannot plan in advance to attend. Many of the UM game attendees drive many hundreds of miles each way. The playoff games are not money-makers for either the home or the visiting team.
There is no secret to Montana's profitability. A winning program, a stadium design that permitted incremental expansions, justified by ticket demand. The rate of expansion has been conservative enough to maintain high ticket demand and prices. 25,000+ at $50 a pop = profit. But the profit does not stay in athletics. Football is a cash cow for an otherwise underfunded university in a state having a weak economy.

That doesnt make sense my friend! A sell out: w/ ticket sales averaging 50$ = 1.25 million/game .... having said that, how is "the number of home games irrelevent"?
What would happen if the sky gave them another conf home game? we would have to assume they would have at least 19,000 in attendance & make $950,000 from ticket sales! sooo theres a DIRECT correlation between home games played & money earned from ticket sales ect..
The fact that Montana makes more money in a home game than a body bag game is exactly my point!

Montana had 7 HOME reg season games in 2008 AND 2009, and they're gonna keep it like that! they've created a simoleans tree in their own backyard, and the only time they venture away from home is mandatory conf games & when a div1a team will pay them more for a home game.
And wheather or not the UofM athletic department keeps that money that football brings in from food, beer,UM jerseys, UM rugs, UMflags, & UM cockrings is truly
irrelevant bc the numbers that are posted don't specify where the money goes. Who cares where the money goes anyway?? Everyone knows who brought it in...
from the movie
The Program Whens' the last time 85,000* people showed up to see a science experiment !?
* 25,000 for Montana's case

BF, I think you're saying the same thing the rest of us are saying. I could be wrong but I think it's been quite a while since we've had as little as 19,000 for a home conference game. Conference games are a pretty big deal even when it's Northern Colorado, or ISU. Montana State, EWU, Weber, and PSU are very big deals to most of us.
PS wear that UM cock ring in good health my friend. Don't worry about paypaling me for it as that one's on me buddy. I hope I didn't stretch it out too much.

It makes pefect sense if you don't forget expenses of home games, which you seem to have. And I did not suggest all tickets went for $50, they certainly don't. Student tickets are almost free. The AD has stated that UM makes about $600M on a regular season sellout home game. Which is about what they were paid to go to Iowa.
Incidentally, Montana has six home games in 2009. Other than that, I have lost track of what point you are trying to make. Maybe that it's not fair to have Montana in the conference.....

I would like to see averages of all the FCS conferences. I might put it together if I get bored today.
