Chickens North.
I get the feeling that they're about to recapture their mojo.
Nothing solid to base that on, mind you. Just a feeling....

Something I did at the end of last season. Made note of 4 things.
1. # of starters lost & returning. For the 8 teams that played JMU used game notes from the JMU game. For the other 3 teams using game notes from their last game. Obviously this isn't totally accurate because:
-teams had guys injured throughout the season
-invariably a # of teams will have lost a starter or starters in the offseason for a variety of reasons (JMU lost 3 on defense, 1 I don't know why, 2 kicked off team).
-Others will return 2013 starters who were injured & missed most/all of 2014 (2 in JMU's case).
2. All CAA (1st-3rd team) lost & returning.
3. All Americans lost & returning. Looked at all 5 teams (College Sporting News Fab 50, TSN 1st-3rd team, AP 1st-3rd team, Walter Camp, AFCA). There were 21 CAA players listed. Only 5 weren't seniors: QBs John Robertson & Vad Lee of JMU, LBs Luke Rhodes of W&M and Don Cherry of VU, and punter Erik Enderson of UD.
4. Noted whether or not the starting QB(s) return.
LOST unless otherwise noted, listed from most to least in terms of starters. Bottom up for who returns the most.
1. UNH (12-2/8-0): 12 starters, 9 of 12 who made All CAA, both All Americans (OL & TE), 1 of 2 starting QBS.
2. JMU (9-4/6-2): 12 starters, 3 of 7 who made All CAA, 1 of 2 All Americans (return Vad Lee at QB). *Do return two 2014 starters on defense who didn't start most of last season due to injury).
3. UR (9-5/5-3): 11 starters, 8 of 11 who made All CAA, All American OL, both starting QBs.
4. UD (6-6/4-4): 10 starters, 5 of 7 who received All CAA, All American TE, 3 year starting QB.
5. SBU (5-7/4-4): 9 starters, 6 of 9 who made All CAA, All American safety. Return their starting QB.
6. VU (11-3/7-1): 8 starters, 6 of 9 who made All CAA, 1 of 3 All Americans (return Robertson at QB and LB Cherry).
7. W&M (7-5/4-4): 7 starters, 5 of 9 who received All CAA, All American & CAA Defensive POTY DE. Return All American LB & starting QB.
--- Albany (7-5/3-5): 7 starters, 3 of 5 who received All CAA, 3 year starting & school record holding QB.
--- Elon (1-11/0-8): 7 starters, 3 of 4 who received All CAA, 3 year starting QB
--- URI (1-11/1-7): 7 starters, 2 of 3 who received All CAA, starting QB.
11. TU (4-8/2-6): 5 starters, 3 of 5 who received All CAA, both All Americans (DE & CB). Return starting QB.
12. Maine (5-6/4-4): 4 starters, 2 of 5 who received All CAA. Return both starting QBs.
In terms of All CAA players lost:
-9 UNH
-8 UR
-6 VU & SBU
-5 W&M & UD
-3 JMU, Albany, Elon, TU
-2 Maine & URI
In terms of All CAA returning:
4 JMU & W&M
3 UNH, VU, SBU, UR, Maine
2 UD, Albany, TU
1 Elon, URI
7 return a starting QB:
VU (Robertson won Payton), JMU (lee #2 Payton voting), W&M, SBU, Maine (both), TU, UNH (1 of 2)
The other 5 have to break in a new starter..

Andy Talley with Torson 2nd.

-I voted VU. Course if VU loses Robertson, they are hosed (their #2 from last yr who started vs SHSU in the quarterfinals was a Sr).
-JMU has a shot, but if Lee goes down, season over. The #2 from last year was moved to TE. The #3 from last yr is now the #2, a soph JUCO transfer from last year who saw very limited action in 5 games (1-2 passing vs Elon).
-W&M has a shot.
-UNH lost too much too much to win the CAA I think but I predict them to be back in the playoffs. I'll predict that every season until the streak is snapped..
-Maine is my dark horse pick. Maine returns the most. Anyway, I see a pattern here...
10' Losing record
11'. Winning record, made playoffs, MaineJeff appears
12' Losing record, MaineJeff disappears by Oct
13' Winning record, made playoffs, MaineJeff reappears
14' Losing record MaineJeff disappears by Oct
15'..??????? (play 2 I-A, same as 13')
Course scheduling 2 I-A games might bite them in the arse as far as making the playoffs. Their last game is @ UNH, which could very well be a play in game. But since 03' McDonnell is 12-1 vs Cosgrove..

Delaware has no shot, none, not this year.
Nova has to be the consensus favorite in my mind. UNH has to replace some people, I'm not convinced JMU's defense is very good & W&M needs a passing game.
If you want a darkhorse maybe Richmond - I liked their QB a lot in HS and think he'll do well, and Stony Brook - had a great defense for most of the year last season.

I voted for Nova and they are the most likely winner. However, I think UNH, JMU, W&M and Richmond all have a shot.
Cherry and Robertson should provide Nova with experience and leadership. The Offensive line and D backs are question marks.

Yeah but UR lost a TON, 2nd only to UNH- at least 11 starters & 8 of 11 All CAA. And whichever of their 2 QBs starts, they're going to be inexperienced (both Strauss and Rocco were seniors last season) & its going to be a drop off from Strauss
http://m.richmond.com/sports/article_93 ... l?mode=jqm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They'll start out 4-2 or 5-1, but their last 5 are BRUTAL.
9/5 @ UMD L
9/12 @ Hampton W
9/19 VMI W
9/26 Bye
10/3 Maine W/L
10/10 Elon W
10/17 @ URI W
10/24 @ JMU
10/31 Albany (UA coming off bye)
11/7 @ UNH
11/14 @ VU
11/21 W&M
Agree on SBU, with 5 starters back from a sub par offense, and 8 starters back from a great defense, will probably be more of the same. A subpar, smash moouth offense, and a great defense. Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if they got in as a 4th or 5th CAA playoff team.

If I wasn't biased, I'd pick Villanova. But I am. I voted for Torson.
Good running back, improved OLine. A bunch of fat guys on defense. What could go wrong?
