i think so. He is extremely accurate, a fantastic runner, and comes up big in the clutch. Pretty good arm strength. He is a top student as well so that bodes well for his future whether it is the NFL or not.

Only 6'1" tall so the way the NFL looks at it, he may not project for the first couple rounds, but unless he falls off this year I would suspect he will be a mid round draft pick. He has had a few injuries (fx hand, concussion) so they may look at him as being too fragile.

Can't wait to watch him in his senior year.

Sankey is an absolute stud. He will be in the running for the Buchanan award if he stays healthy.

Yes he is a very good college QB, but you are clueless the way the NFL looks at it. He "projects" as not drafted at all.

If he has another great season he may project in the late rounds if he is drafted at all.

You sound just like the ODU fans sounded about Heineke 2-3 years ago after won the Payton as a Soph in 2012. He didn't get drafted and will be in camp with the Vikings the last I saw.

Maybe so. We will see. Meanwhile I get to watch and enjoy him for another year and you can watch Vad and enjoy him. Can you really blame any Cat fan that might get a little over excited after watching him win the Jerry Rice award freshman year and then top that with the Payton award?

Good luck this year. Hope JMU has a great year and we both get in the finals. GO CAA!

His lack of projection is due to his concussion year end. He was projected round 2-3 earlier in his junior year from the nfldraftscout site. just sayin

Looks like he is going to make out ok either way based on this article.

Robertson ready to carry through on football investment at ’Nova

Villanova quarterback John Robertson, left, spent the summer working an internship on Wall Street. But the Wildcats’ fifth-year leader has one more season of eligibility remaining with which to cash in his many football skills. TOM KELLY IV — DAILY TIMES

The best quarterback in the Football Championship Subdivision spent most of his summer on Wall Street instead of on Lancaster Ave., choosing to hone his skills as a future financial whiz rather than sharpen his ability to read defenses or avoid blitzing linebackers.
John Robertson didn’t step away from football completely. He worked out, but did so after putting in a 12-hour shift as an intern with global financial giant UBS.
“It was a good experience,” the Villanova quarterback and reigning Walter Payton Award winner said. “I learned a lot.”
What Robertson learned most from his two-month internship in the Big Apple was how fortunate he is to have at least one more season of college football before he has to head off into the real world.
Most football players at Villanova don’t get that opportunity. Football, even at the FCS level, has become a year-round sport. Head coach Andy Talley likes his players to stick around campus during the summer, take a few classes and working out with the training staff.
However, Talley made an exception for Robertson, after a pretty good sales job by his QB. Talley let Robertson take the internship after he promised that he would be ready for the season when training camp opens Wednesday.

“He needed the job and it was a great job,” Talley said. “I figured, ‘He’s a fifth-year kid, he won the Walter Payton Award, why not?’”

It’s not like Robertson has ever taken a shortcut during his time at Villanova, on or off the field. He won the Jerry Rice Award as the national Freshman of the Year in 2012, and picked up the Payton Award as a junior last season. He is the first player to win both.

Robertson is no shirker in the classroom, either. He earned his undergraduate degree in economics last May and is working toward his MBA so there was no need for Talley to believe Robertson would not keep up his end of the bargain, which he did. Robertson would work from 6 a.m. to 6 or 7 p.m., head to the gym or one of the many parks in New York to work out and be asleep by 10 p.m.

“It was long days, but at this point in my life I want to fill my day up with the most productive things I can do,” Robertson said.

Nothing in life is guaranteed, especially a career in pro football. Robertson just wanted to have some options in case a chance as a pro QB does not come along. He’s sure to get a look, based on his resume, and the fact that he did win the Payton honor.

The three men who won the Payton Award before Robertson, quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo, Tayor Heinicke and Bo Levi Mitchell, are all being paid to play the game they love.

Garoppolo is the backup to Tom Brady in New England, which means he could be the starter if Brady’s four-game suspension for his alleged role in Deflategate is upheld. Brady is fighting that decision in court. Heinicke is in training camp with the Minnesota Vikings, while Mitchell led the Calgary Stampeders to the CFL’s Grey Cup last year, and was named the game’s MVP.

So while a pro career is not out of the realm of possibility, it’s always good to have a backup plan and get a taste of the real worl, which is what Robertson did. He had to learn how to navigate New York’s complex subway system, which is no easy feat.

“That took me about a week or two,” Robertson said.

Now back on the Main Line, Robertson is ready to lead the Wildcats one final time.

“I’m really starting to feel it now,” Robertson said. “I missed being away from the team so much that my mindset going into this season is, ‘It’s time to just go play football and have fun again.’ I was living in the work world. It was a good experience and I was happy to do it, but now I have an opportunity most people don’t have. They wish they could go back and play football. I’m actually able to go back and play football, which is pretty cool.”
