Illinois State head football coach Brock Spack said Monday that All-American senior running back Marshaun Coprich has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.

“Marshaun has been suspended, effective immediately,” Spack said. “Though we are disappointed that he is in this situation, we will let the process continue before a final decision is made.”

Spack said he would have no further comments on the suspension.

According to McLean County Circuit Court records, Coprich is charged with delivery of more than 10 but less than 30 grams of marijuana, a Class 4 felony. He is scheduled to be arraigned later this month.

That's too bad he go mixed up in illegal activities that surround a product that should be legal.

This is actually the right way to go about it. With the suspension, he's free to concentrate on his defense without the "distraction" of football, and the way is left open to either reinstate him if he's exonerated or dismiss him if he's convicted. To just kick him out now would leave the school open to charges of unlawful termination if he's exonerated, plus they might have to go through the embarrassment of trying to sneak him back in....

Crap. I only saw him play a couple of times in the semis and the championship game but I liked watching him. He's good.

It does seem strange. So, get caught smoking weed and you get suspended for a year...Sell Weed to a cop and you get no suspension.

Now if the coach says anything about his character, will he and AD be fired? Oh wait, only we do that.

No, if this was the griz, he would be suspended for the first 6 plays of the division 2 game they play.
