09/05/15 – @ Furman
09/12/15 – @ SCSU

09/19/15 – vs. Western Illinois
09/26/15 – vs. Bryant
10/03/15 – vs. Alabama A&M
10/10/15 – vs. Presbyterian
10/17/15 – BYE
10/24/15 – @ Monmouth
10/31/15 – @ Charleston Southern
11/07/15 – vs. Gardner-Webb
11/14/15 – vs. Kennesaw State

11/21/15 – @ Liberty*Toss Up.

I can see us going 8-3, Losing to Bryant and West. Ill. Possibly losing to LU. Obviously, I'd like us to be at least 9-2, at the very least.

This isn't official, but the guys at Coastalfans.com have done a great job tracking down the sources. You can go here if you care for the sources: http://www.coastalfans.com/2015-ccu-foo ... nofficial/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So, I wish we could get away from these MEAC teams, but SCSU is a local favorite to play. There's a small chance that game won't happen if SCSU ends up closing. Alabama A&M (SWAC), Bryant (NEC), Western Illionis (MVFC) and Kennesaw State (Big South) are new schools for us. This is also the first time we've scheduled the MVFC.

Remember my doom predictions on the last few of these? Not so much here.

I see 11-0 or 10-1, depending on the result of the Liberty game. When it comes to seeding, though, that D-II game near the end could hurt.

What D-2 game? That's a D1 schedule.

Solid. 10-1 gets you a seed.

Mark is correct.

If they're D-I now, when did they move up? I hope they're not going indy. That's a REALLY tough road to hoe unless your name's Notre Dame....

They're DI, but with a new startup football program.

When were they not d1?

Looking forward to week 1 :thumb:

CCU has pretty much owned us but the games generally are close and exciting. Even last year as bad as we were the game went to overtime. Should be interesting game if we don't fall to the injury bug for the third season in a row.

Mark, you bringing your first born?

Yup. I have a lot of family in Greenville, Simpsonville & Sparkle City and many of them went to Furman. We always get together at these games. Me and 2 cousins went (still attend) CCU so it's a nice, family rivalry.

Then we need to make sure we see each other :thumb:

Kennesaw started the d2 to d1 transition of their athletic programs in the 2009-10 season. This will be their first season of football, so no transition is in effect.

It took me a little while to figure out that Kennesaw State is just starting a football program and will, apparently, field its first football team this year.

They're starting a Division I FCS football program . I do wonder how the NCAA looks at games like that if it comes down to selection. It IS a Division I game. But it could be that it's a team that would finish near or at the bottom of the D-II Gulf South Conference (which is stronger than some FCS conferences). We'll get some insight into that when the Owls play Shorter; which finished 1-6 in the Gulf South last year.

So they're going the USF route. Let's just hope they have the success USF has had in the past (it was almost immediate), rather than running into a brick wall like GA State did....

An even quicker rise of a startup program, to me, was Georgia Southern. They started their program in 1982 with a 6-3-1 record. 6-5 the second year, 8-3 the third year, and 13-2 with a I-AA national championship in the 4th year. Add to that another I-AA national title in the 5th year, a I-AA playoffs quarterfinal appearance in the 6th year, a I-AA national championship game appearance in the 7th year, and two more I-AA national titles in the 8th and 9th years.

So, first 9 years of program: 9 winning seasons, 6 I-AA playoffs appearances, 4 I-AA national titles, and 1 I-AA runner up finish.

Hard to imagine a more successful start up than that.

Wow, JSO. That IS impressive.

I'd still like to know how GA State was allowed to jump before they ever did anything. Making the playoffs at least once in the last five years ought to be a requirement. If you're losing at the FCS level, what makes you think you're going to win at the FBS level? And if you don't win, you don't make any money. Heck, at the FBS level, even winning's no guarantee of making a profit. SMH....

All they needed was the invite. The Sun Belt was more interested in the Atlanta metro potential than any GaSt pedigree.

You're not losing to Bryant. They came out of nowhere last year -- picked 7th pre-season in the NEC -- and were 10 points away from having a dream season. That said, they couldn't hang with us at our place last year and, by extension, couldn't have hung with you. Further, they have to replace 26 seniors which means pretty much every starter on defense.

South Florida never got into the I-AA/FCS playoffs either when it was starting up. Theoretically, Georgia State should've been in similar position being in the Atlanta area where there is all kinds of football talent.

But no.

Otherwise: No program that has moved from I-AA/FCS to FBS makes money. In fact their athletic programs lose more money on average than FCS programs do when you remove the money that the university has to kick in on the revenue side. If the idea is to improve the financial bottom line that's not likely to happen when a school moves from FCS to FBS.
