There have been rumors over the past few days that EWU's Vernon Adams will transfer to Oregon after graduating in the spring. This seems crazy on the surface, but there's apparently enough smoke that something at least resembling a media outfit has picked up on it.

Who knows...there was an article in the Spokesman today on it, however. He mentioned it was just a rumor but I suppose anything is possible. Personally, I'd be surprised.

If he's denying it then he's probably gone.

That would be something. He knows how to beat the Beavers ( ) so he has that going for him.

He'd miss Spring Ball and only have Fall Camp to learn the system. Seems like a stretch, but ya never know.

More talk after the championship game that one of Ohio State's QB's was going to transfer to Oregon. I have not heard this one, but I wouldn't put it past them. Sounds like Helfridge is trying to get a proven quarterback to Oregon for next season. Doesn't Oregon play EWU next year?

Yes. VA isn't playing for any other college team.

Unless they're guaranteeing him the starting job, it's a dumb move. He won't be eligible to practice until Fall camp.

Me, I'd kind of like to see some sense of loyalty to the school that believed in him to begin with. I'm not saying it's BAD or that it's not UNDERSTANDABLE that he'd be considering moving to Oregon. But I would like to think that if I were in a similar position I would not even entertain it. I'd LIKE to think I'd stay with the school that I signed on with to begin with.

I do believe that IF he's got NFL potential the NFL would "see" him in either place.

True. The Cheatriots didn't have any problem taking Garoppolo from a relatively obscure FCS school. Same with the Cowboys and Romo.

CHENEY, Wash. (AP) -- Eastern Washington's record-setting quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. says he has received a scholarship offer from Oregon and will visit the school this weekend.

Adams told The Spokesman-Review on Wednesday that he will fly to Eugene, Oregon, on Friday and return Sunday.

The strong-armed Adams, who will be a senior next season, owns nearly every major passing record at Eastern Washington, a perennial FCS power. He would be seeking to replace Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota.

Dave Williford, a spokesman for the Oregon football team, says he cannot comment on any potential player transfers.

I guess if I had to bet I'd bet it's true that Oregon offered him a scholarship but Adams is so obviously an extreme narcissist that I have to stand by if what we're talking about is him SAYING that he was offered a scholarship. I have to wait to see if Oregon says it or it actually happens.

It was the 247 media outlet that reported the scholarship offer, not Adams himself.

Is next year the year that the Power 5 teams can offer scholarship + the other costs?

If so, there are several thousand reasons Adams would transfer to Oregon.
