Another even matchup here. Indiana State has 5 losses, but they've played the toughest schedule of any playoff team. The SoCon is the weakest it's been in perhaps forever, but the Mocs dominated every conference opponent except ironically Mercer. Oh, did I mention each of these teams are in the playoffs for the first time in 30 years? This game looks like it will come down to how well the ISU defense contains Jacob Huesman's running. I'm not certain how that's gonna go, so I'll take UTC's home field & excellent special teams.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- Chattanooga

        Running Backs - Indiana St.

        Receivers/TEs - Indiana St.

        Offensive Line - Chattanooga

        Defensive Line - Chattanooga

        Linebackers --- Indiana St.

        Secondary ---- Indiana St.

        Kicking ------ (push)

        Punting ------ Chattanooga

        Return Teams - Chattanooga

        Kickoffs ------ Chattanooga

        • Indiana St. 27-31 Chattanooga

Man, if ISU has the better ground game I would really hate to see how bad chatty is at running the ball

Again, you misread what I write. UTC has the better running game, but it's pretty much entirely because of the quarterback. Huesman has nearly 1000 more rushing yards than Perish.

Have you seen the ISU ground game at all?

They've barely hit 1200 as an entire team at 3.3 ypc.

Last week 49 yards
Week before 27… not a typo

ISU's rushing stats aren't impressive, but the running back stats between UTC & ISU are actually about the same. Huesman's running prowess versus Perish's complete lack of running prowess is basically the entire difference in the two teams' running games.

UTC has the better running game, but the running backs are close to equal (I gave the nod to ISU because of the SOS advantage).
