The Bobcats could make this a 50/50 proposition with Prukop & Shawn Johnson healthy, but it doesn't sound like that's gonna happen. SDSU's D-Line sucks, so MSU should be able to run the ball effectively. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, though, their D-Line is even worse and their pass defense is much weaker. It's unlikely Montana State will win this game unless they can pull off a double-Willis-Reed moment.
Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:
- Quarterbacks -- South Dakota St.
Running Backs - South Dakota St.
Receivers/TEs - South Dakota St.
Offensive Line - Montana St.
Defensive Line - South Dakota St.
Linebackers --- (push)
Secondary ---- South Dakota St.
Kicking ------ South Dakota St.
Punting ------ Montana St.
Return Teams - (push)
Kickoffs ------ Montana St.
- South Dakota St. 41-26 Montana St.

I like Saccat's previews better than yours
If the Cats play like last weekend they'll get embarrassed. But I think they'll play like they're capable of playing and win (hope springs eternal - isn't that the saying?).

And you're second best and 4th best teams fared so well against a MVFC school? That has 0 mvfc wins in a season and a half and whose only d1 win in 1.5 years is that 4th best nau team….

I merely suggested your conference's defensive showing in that game was not the cat's meow either.
(Ha! Get it? Cat's meow……????)
How did Zenner fare last year in the 2nd round against a Big Sky D?

He ran over the Cats. No one is disputing that.
BTW, I hope Carnes is having an off night. Otherwise it's pretty simple to beat UNI for either us or UM. Stop Johnson and keep the game in front of you.
MVFC defenses…terffific!
Against MVFC offenses….

Yeah… stop DJ… it's easy, right?

You don't think NDSU and User didn't know that in those games.
Check the box scores

Yeah… stop DJ… it's easy, right?
Well it worked against the better back in Zenner last year. Plus, NDSU and ISUr don't have our offense.

Why are you wasting your time discussing this? Your team isn't going to play UNI anyway.

Montana St made is close with a late TD and a 2pt conversion. SDSU kept plodding away against the Bobcat defense.

Stop Johnson on the run and he gets 200 yards receiving, aka Iowa game.

But it's easy, right?
All you have to do is load the box on UNI and send 9 at DJ on every play.
UNI threw for over 200 on 5 completions yesterday, and 4 of them were in the air less than 10 yards from the los. Fake to DJ, all lb and db bite (because all you have to do is stop DJ, right) and the seams were wide open.
I agree, it sounds really, really, easy to stop the uni offense. The issue is DJ truly is such an athletic freak its not that easy.
He is 6'3 230 lbs and runs a 4.4 or 4.5. Reps 315 10 times and does squat sets at over 500.
He is what EWU fans thought Taiwann Jones was.
Now, if you do find a way to completely stop DJ you'll probably win by a couple scores. The issue is the only person that's been able to stop DJ this year is Bill Salmon.
Unlike Zenner, who is the ultimate feast on bad defenses and famine on good defense back DJ feasts on everyone
