The overall stats, schedules, etc. here are pretty even, so I think this matchup comes down to two things: 1) The game is in Harrisonburg. 2) James Madison is on a hot streak. Both defenses are mediocre, though, so whichever offense screws up the least will likely win.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- James Madison

        Running Backs - James Madison

        Receivers/TEs - Liberty

        Offensive Line - Liberty

        Defensive Line - Liberty

        Linebackers --- James Madison

        Secondary ---- James Madison

        Kicking ------ Liberty

        Punting ------ Liberty

        Return Teams - James Madison

        Kickoffs ------ (push)

        • Liberty 31-41 James Madison

That seems about right. I predicted JMU 41, LU 27 on the JMU board.

Looking forward to this game. Looking for the CAA to win the first round games. JMU is on a roll and at home. Go Vad, JMU, Richmond and the CAA!

JMU defense is a tad chippy to start the game....

Gill's gonna claim arm in motion, but that's a legit fumble, caused by the hard-crashing DE. An argument could be made that the Liberty LT was holding there, for all the good it did him.

Targeting? That'll be tough for JMU to overcome....

Liberty stops JMU on 4th down in the red zone near the end of 1Q.

Query:

Should JMU win, does this targeting ejection ALSO result in a prohibition of participation next week (a la a red card in soccer), or will he be allowed to play?

Liberty goes straight down the field on a few passes to reach JMU 19 as time expires in 1Q.

I would have tried to beat the clock to take advantage of momentum....

Another JMU touchdown, directly attributable to a blown call. SMH....

Liberty intercepts in the end zone to stop a JMU drive with less than a minute left in the half.

The second half has started. JMU got the ball first, but were stuffed deep in their own territory. Liberty starts their first drive soon.

JMU gives Liberty a second chance on a wide-right 56-yard FG with the time out. Liberty seizes the day with a kick right down the middle.

JMU 21, Liberty 20.

Four yards allowed on FB dive with a reverse open? What's up with that, JMU?
