MEAC Five Way tie and AQ for Morgan State

I read the article published from the MEAC website that states how Morgan State got the AQ for the playoffs. Yet, I don't understand how 5 teams tied for first place, and yet Morgan State was the only one to get in the playoffs. Can anyone explain this mess?

Well, only one team can get an auto-bid from a single conference…
Combined head-to-head decided it:
MORG: 2-1
SCSU: 2-2
NCCEN: 2-2
BCU: 1-1
NCAT: 1-2

I understand that only one AQ bid can be given, but how is it that they were the only one and none of the other teams were selected for at-large bids? Especially since the Missouri Valley sent 5 teams and this conference had teams that preformed better than the 7-4 Indiana State. It seems to me that teams that win their conference should get in, even if several tie.

Probably due to the lack of quality OOC wins. MVFC was 23-1 vs non-conference FCS schools.

North Carolina Central was the cause of this 5 way tie when they defeated North Carolina A&T 24-21,but still with a 9-3 mark A&T should have been looked at for a at large bid.

Not even close. They beat one team with a winning record, Morgan State. There next best win was probably a 1-11 Elon. There are DII conferences ranked ahead of the MEAC.

Well I always say if you don't win your conference AQ you leave it to chance

The MEAC and its teams should drop down to D2. They are weak opponents and do your schedule more harm than good.

Sez da man whose team was lucky to beat NC A&T 31-30 by stopping a 2-point conversion and returning the subsequent kickoff for a touchdown

Because the MEAC sucks.
-5-16 vs I-AA OOC. Only the non scholly Pioneer was sleightly worse, and the Pioneer also only got 1 team in.
-0-16 in the playoffs since 2000. The MEAC needs to win a playoff game this century before they can think about getting 2 teams in.

You point to one game among dozens as some sort of irrefutable proof? That's precious.

I hope that A&T gets another shot at your team next season.

The MEAC sucks and doesn't deserve to get in any teams into the playoffs other than its automatic qualifier, and even that is a stretch.
Despite the recent expansion, FCS playoff at-large invitations are NOT some sort of subsidy program for clown football programs...they go to programs and teams that demonstrate the ability to commit to play some quality football.
MEAC...0 for almost forever in the playoffs.

Break up the MEAC, the remaining teams can join the SoCon, Big South, NEC. And FAMU can join the SWAC like they've been threatening for years.
Besides...its totally racist that they've grouped all the black schools together.
Oh wait...
