So yeah, not hard to see this coming. In seven awful years at the Institute, Woods had a 17-62 record and won a grand total of two road games. The level of play under his tenure was quite frankly horrid at times and we were well overdue for a change.

I just hope our new AD will hire a coach that is young, aggressive, and energetic. I can't say that Sparky was any of those things. In fact I believe his very name is a misnomer, as there is nothing 'sparky' about him. He led App State to two SoCon titles/playoff appearances but that was nearly 30 years ago. He was far past his "prime" and, for me, it's not hard to see him go.

Here's to hoping Dave Diles finds the right successor.

VMI's problems were not coaching to the extent if the players don't block and tackle, they will never win football games.

Regardless of whether Al Cobb is the next Steve Young (VMI announcers during The Citadel game broadcast  )
