Well, that's great for people who care about the SWAC and there's no denying there are people who care abut the SWAC. But if you're not in that number it's a big yawn because the SWAC stays to itself.

The truth is that it's a couple of teams that are a combined 1-5 in non conference play with the only win being by Southern over 5-6 NAIA Central Methodist.

They're not good FCS football teams. If you're not a SWAC fan, you're not going to care about two mediocre at best teams from a conference that's ranked 12th of 13 FCS leagues by Sagarin play each other.

I understand that the SWAC gets big crowds. But it's just not good football. And it seems to want to live in its own little world. Doesn't really want to compete with teams from other leagues on its level.

Well nobody gets excited about SLC not even the people who go/went to school there.

Um...JSO...it seems like the SWAC has something along the lines of a SLC-SWAC Challenge.

Grambling played Lamar...AND Houston.

Southern played NW State...AND SW LA.

Prairie View played McNeese.

TX Southern cheesed out....

AR-PB cheesed out on the SLC game, but DID play up...against TX State.

Alcorn played up at So Miss.

AL State played SHSU.

Jackson State dispensed with the SLC Challenge, and played the OVC's TN State instead. They also played the MEAC's FL A&M.

AL A&M played the MEAC's NC A&T...AND UAB.

MVSU played IL State (MVFC).

So while they haven't done so well, they haven't exactly ducked the other conferences, either. The SWAC is playing SOME OOC games against other conferences in the area. Fortunately, they are generally in an area where they have the option to play "real" OOC games without spending all that much on travel. That IS a key issue in FCS.

Thanks SH everyone thinks the SWAC ducks, other leagues as you have shown that is not the case.Money is the issue at these schools that is why we forfeited our AQ status in the FCS playoffs. One yr PVAM played against a SLC powerhouse and beat them I believe it was either Sam Houston or Stephen F.Austin.Panther QB Lovelocke played the game of his career in that historic victory!!!!!!

Not much of a game to watch, but I'll set my TiVo to tape the game around halftime so I can see Southern's band. Never thought much of Grambling's band, though, definitely overrrated.

Disagree ,I say that there will be some NFL prospects in this game as stated before Southern University WR Mike Jones, needs to make his presence felt ,in this game he is the fastest player on SUs squad by far!!!!!

There were pro prospects on UD this year but it didn't make watching it worthwhile. Bad football is bad football, regardless if there's a pro prospect out there. If this Jones guy is worth watching I can always watch him run sprints at the Combine in the Spring.
