Big South Week #5 Predicitions

Charleston Southern at Charlotte

Monmouth at Lehigh

Liberty at Indiana State

Gardner-Webb at The Citadel

Elon at Coastal Carolina

First off, I would be shocked if CSU loses to Charlotte. I was at the game last year, and while Charlotte has some FBS transfers, they aren't a solid team.

G-dubbs shocked us all with their defeat of Wofford. Unless El Cid has figured out how to defend against the pass, they don't really stand a chance. G-dubbs threw for almost 230 yds last Saturday. Their loss to Furman might be an outlier at this point, considering Furman's past games.

Elon is 1-2, with one of those losses being to a team CCU beat. They've only beaten Charlotte, but it was an ugly game. 8 penalties, 4 turnovers, and 33% at 3rd down conversions and and 0-1 at 4th down ..ugly.

Leigh is 0-3 against Yale, JMU and New Hampshire but they haven't lost to Monmouth in 3 or 4 years. I wouldn't say an easy win, but this may be the year.

I don't know anything about Indiana State so i'll default to a Liberty win. 8-)

Interesting week.

I think Lehigh beats Monmouth. Lehigh is a very solid, strong program. Monmouth is hit or miss.
Liberty should beat Indiana State. Don't know much about ISU though. Rolling dice assuming LU is better.

CCU should beat Elon. Elon was once a power in the Big South and SoCon. They have fallen off some. CCU is rolling, and should win big in this one.

Gardner Webb @ Citadel. I think GW wins this one, and they might win it big. Citadel has two glaring weaknesses: They cant stop the pass consistently; And they cant throw the ball to save their lives. I mean their passing game is BAD, even for an option team. And guess what Gardner Webb has? An All American candidate at WR, 6'4, 220 pounds who the NFL is eyeing hard....and they have 2 All American candidates in their front 7 at DL and LB, who can also make running the ball very hard. They are fresh off a win vs Wofford. And guess what? Wofford runs the triple option, just like Citadel, so GWU has already spent a week preparing for that offense, reviewed their game tape of the win over Wofford, and will tweak their defense and be even better vs Citadel defending the option. So Citadel already cant pass it, and they face a GWU defense with 2 All Americans in the front 7 who are fresh off playing an option team last week to get a head start on prepping for the option offense. Points will be very hard to get. ......The Citadel is spiraling, their coach even publicly said his players "better have my back", and its only 3 weeks into their relationship. Uh oh. The Webb could roll big in this one!

CSU @ Charlotte. This one scares me. CSU beat them pretty easily last year. But Charlotte is like South Florida was in their first couple years. A lot of young freshmen. New team. But, they are drawing recruits that are FBS caliber, and one Saturday soon, all those recruits are gonna gel and be really tough. I think CSU eeks out a close win, but damn this one scares me.

More ink about El Cid than about CSU.

I don't think we talked this much about the Gamecocks after we beat them.

It IS kind of gratifying to know that for CSU, beating El Cid twice is more exciting than beating USC and Arkansas. At least for certain CSU fans.

No you didnt. You couldnt. Internet forums didnt exist back then.

And I spoke more on GWU vs Citadel bc its a more intriguing game than CSU. CSU is up 34-17 in the 3rd.

Beating CCU or Liberty would be far better. You guys are just arrogant jerks so its fun watching your school lose to a school you all look so down on. And this trend aint changing bud.

Good win, Lehigh is a strong program. Didn't realize Lehigh was 0-3 though. I just know very little about Monmouth.

UNC-Charlotte was feisty. You can tell they have Conference USA caliber players on that roster, they just happen to be freshmen. They have a running back that looked like he could play for the USC Gamecocks right now. CSU was fortunate to escape with a win today. Our RB Christian Reyes got back to his old form and really busted the game open. We'll need him to shine to have any hope in the Big South.

Losing to an inferior team will piss you off that way.

Good luck EVER showing me to spew over CSU the way you have over El Cid, Nancy.

Why are you still here?

As for Ibanez, I am just concerned about how my Bucs will try to find a way to compete with CCU when we go up there.

But really...why are you still here? :coffee:
