Hey for JMU fans: With Mickey gone & Withers in, and just looking at boxscores my question is:

Do you guys still run a lot of read option? Landers was excellent at that, and UD couldn't stop Colgate running all night last Saturday.. :ohno: :ohno: :tothehand:

Yes, basically are running a similar offense to last year's Ohio State with Braxton Miller and 07'-08' At JMU with Rodney Landers. The read option zone blocking spread. But are passing more than did in 07'-08'.

JMU rushing in 3 in 3 games:
vs UMD: 161
vs Lehigh: 322
vs StFU: 338

Vad Lee hasn't been as good running the read option as you would think he would be for a starting ACC QB who ran a triple option at GT. During the MD game according to Withers he made about 8 wrong reads when he handed the ball off when he should have kept. A few of those could have gone for big gains. Was a little better vs Lehigh, and better again vs STFU. As a JMU poster on the JMU board stated, Lee is not as physical a runner as Landers, who would run through a brick wall, but is more physical than Justin Thorpe, who would go down with a gust of wind.

In the 3 games he has rushed for:
UMD 8 carries, 27 yds (was 6 carries for 48, 2 sacks for -21)
Lehigh 10 carries, 68 yds
StFU 18 carries, 174 yds (including a 76 TD run).

But as have pointed out in the CAA Week 4 Prediction thread JMU's defense has been abominable vs the run, due to personnel losses (4 starters out of front 7, including 3 All CAA, 1 of whom was AA and another with the Giants practice squad + a returning all CAA LB who has been hurt) and going from a 4-3 to a 3-4.
JMU given up rushing 3 games:
UMD: 285 yds
Lehigh: 287
StFU: 292

This is a cause of much consternation among JMU fans, as we were accustomed to seeing very stout JMU run defenses under Mickey. Villanova will probably run for 300+ on JMU unless Robertson is hampered by his cast on his non throwing hand.

Sounds like neither JMU nor UD can stop the run. Sounds like there could be 500-600 yds combined rushing in that game. UD gets the bye week but game is at JMU. Should be a good one.
