About the only thing I could add to Venus' assessment of Incarnate Word's "performance" (or lack thereof) this past weekend is this jab at their student announcers:

"...incomplete was your training. Not ready for the burden were you...."

This was apparently their first time out, with NO football training to speak of other than being fans. Their repeated use of the same tired clichés (bringing the kitchen sink) showed a complete lack of creativity. Surprisingly, as Bible college students, they misapplied the one Bible reference they used (the Red Sea). They would immensely benefit from spending a spring semester as students in the coaching class most schools use to install their offense and defense in preparation for Spring Ball, as their knowledge of football strategy was woefully lacking. ("I'd just chuck it.") Once, they even advocated running play action AFTER THE ROUT HAD ALREADY BEEN LAID ON. Who the heck is going to bite on play action when it's obvious to everyone in the stands and on TV that to have ANY hope at all, you have to throw?

That's not to say that they were horrible homers. They clearly liked their team, and were eternally optimistic for a turnaround that never came, but they NEVER claimed that Sac State cheated, as at least one set of opposing announcers falsely claimed last season. UIW's guys just need training in football theory and a mentor in honing their craft. That's all.

Get some training, guys....

Not much. The Pioneer champ is usually better than the NAIA one, but the PFL does seem weaker than it was a few years ago.

  Most Surprising Result: Georgetown 3, Wagner 21 - With this type of performance against arguably the worst team on their schedule, Georgetown may have to wait until next year to get program win #500.

It was 50/50. I mainly went with that one because Towson/CCSU already had 3 other mentions. Bryant was also picked lower than CCSU in the NEC preseason poll.
