Where is this obsession of all these schools making a Caddyshack 2 style transformation to their football field coming from?

I wonder if that will confuse some birds, like Boise's field allegedly did when it was still astroturf.


Also… you can apparently buy blue astroturf on eBay, for those that are interested.

Wasn't there a recent rule enforcing some sort of codes for turf colors?

I don't think so. The Mountain West temporarily barred Boise from wearing blue jerseys on their turf, but even that went away. Eastern Michigan just installed grey turf and I'm sure it isn't the last we'll see. The colored turf trend really isn't nearly as big of an issue as people make it out to be.

Here's a mockup of what the field may look like. I'm not a big fan of changing field colors, but whatever. CCU admin says it is supposed to draw more events to the stadium such as concerns, etc. We'll see....

It'll draw more heckles. We already have a ridiculous mascot. Why not make the field look ridiculous as well.

I don't see the need. Uniqueness is not a reason. Our mascot makes us unique enough. Let's leave it at that.
