Holy shit. I literally laughed out loud when I saw an Southland team that high. And higher than the highest CAA team? hardly....

CAA team that was picked 5th preseason in the CAA by the coaches was picked 7th in this poll.

Look, I know the Southland isn't the toughest league but it did have a team in the national championship game just two and three years ago. And I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that this Southeastern Louisiana team is going to have more talent than those Sam Houston State teams did. In fact my own opinion is that it probably will.

Why? Because their 3rd year head coach has shown an ability to really load up on JC players and FBS transfers. Did it again this past signing season with 7 FBS transfers and 6 JC signees. And the 7 FBS transfers include a guy that saw significant playing time in the secondary at LSU and a guy who started in the secondary for Tulane. I realize Tulane is not LSU but this is not a stiff.

Remember, this head coach they have was only in his second year last year and you saw the dramatic upswing in talent. I don't particularly like his approach but it's pretty clear that it works. They may very well have more pure talent than anybody in the CAA does. Don't for one minute rule that out.

It's a nice parting give for the 3 time FCS Champions. New QB, new Coach, we will see what happens. If the QB is good, they will be back in the playoffs, if not, new champ.

Or go wipe your arse with it because it is as worthless as tits on a bull- all they doing is mainly basing it off of what happened last yr.

I think it looks pretty good for now. As we all know, there will be one or two teams in the top 10 not in the top 25 at the end and probably a team or two not ranked when it's all said and done with. I can see NDSU as either a top 5 at the end or completely out of the top 25 depending on how the transition goes.

I don't think so. Most teams have more question marks than the Griz do (I had UM @ #2 in my AGS ballot, behind EWU).

Man...you really need some new material. Might I suggest the phrase "like tits on a bull" or something?

I've been waiting for this heavily influenced by alcohol and lack of sleep poll. The coaches always know how to place the teams exactly where they deserve. Examples: A Towson team picked 5th in their own conference receives a #1 vote, a Sam Houston team slotted at 14 who probably lost even their managers along with most of the rest of their players, a Maine team that says goodbye to most of its offense placed at 20, and a Montana team with far too many defensive question marks at 5. With all of those in my opinion flubs, I'm surprised they didn't have Lehigh on here.

We'll see how the season plays out but we're a lot more talented than last year, especially on defense.

Try 4-5. Happens every season. Go back any season and look at the pre season top 25 compared to last poll of the season (after the playoffs). You'll see how big a joke the pre season poll is every year.

I missed one when I counted transfers on the SELA roster. Here's the FBS transfer list slulionsfan posted in the who are your transfers thread:

Micah Eugene, 5-11, 188, DB, LSU ****
Derrick Raymond, 6-0, 190, CB, LSU ****
Jerquinick Sandolph, 6-2, 215, DB, LSU ***
Jordan Batiste, 5-9, 185, DB, Tulane ***
Aaron Reed, OL, 6-5, 310, Southern Miss ***
Chris Briggs, 6-5, 230, WR, Southern Miss ***
Pierson Villarubia, 6-5, 290, OL, Washington State ***
D'Shaie Landor, 6-1, 195, QB, UL-Lafayette ***

I don't know about the Southern Miss guys, the Washington State guy, and the UL Lafayette guy. But those LSU transfers and that Tulane transfer are very good players. I fully expect the Lions to be notably better than they were last year. There may be some FCS teams that are going to have as much talent in the secondary as they do in 2014 but if there are I think it's a pretty short list. Combine that with the fact that they've got a very good and very big defensive front.

I don't know anything at all about the JC players they brought in but if last year is any indication they know what they're doing when they bring JC players in.

How the fuck do you get a transfer list like that? A whole defensive backfield from the SEC just rolls in to SELA??? Yes Tulane, I know but seriously.

We recruited 7 of the 8 when they were in high school if that helps answer your question. The only one we didn't is Aaron Reed, and I believe we recruited him when he was in JC.

Looks like the stars of those guys got exaggerated a bit. According to Rivals, the 2 he listed as 4 star guys are 3 star, and 3 that he listed as 3 star are 2 star.

Eugene and Raymond were rated 4 stars by 247 ... Villarubia was rated 3 by 247 and ESPN ... Sandolph was rated 3 by everybody and Batiste 3 by Scout.

Besides, it doesn't matter whether they're zero stars or four stars, they're all good players who fit what we do.

Really? I guess you forgot that the best of BSC are 0-7 vs. one SLC team in the last 3 years.

SELA will be a very interesting team to watch this year. Bryan Bennett is a man among boys.

That being said #14 is too high for my Bearkats. Way too many question marks.

Ok. But as I bolded, wasn't talking about Sandolph and Batiste- Rivals has them 3 star. Reed and Landor they have as 2 star. There's a bunch of different rating services (Rivals, Scout, ESPN, 247, etc). I'll usually mention what service when mentioning a guys stars. Rivals seems to be the most used, so when I see someone say a player has x # of stars, but doesn't mention the service, I just assume Rivals.

Odds are a few will be total busts, a few will be 2 deep to non all conference starters, and a few will turn out real good all conference type impact players. Could even have an All American in there. The benefit of casting a wide net. Same will happen with JMU's 8 transfers, which include a 1/2 doz BCS, 5 Rivals 3 star and 1 Rivals 2 star, which is probably the most in school history in # of transfers and certainly the most in # of stars. Same pretty much with all BCS & 3 star transfers. Except for most teams it's 1 or 2 or 3 (JMU's typical). Only a few teams every season can land 1/2 doz or more highly rated transfers. The benefit of casting a wide net.

Eugene in particular is a big "get." He got pretty significant playing time at LSU. And when you get significant time at LSU you're getting playing time at the school that, at least as of my last check about two weeks ago, has more players on NFL rosters than any other school. They've got so MUCH talent that he was kind of getting lost in the shuffle and could see that his playing time was decreasing. But he'd probably be starting at the majority of "Big 5" conference programs. Regardless of how many stars he had coming out of high school he's a SEC starter caliber player.

Edit: Just checked and as of now LSU is one behind USC in players on NFL rosters. 55 for USC and 54 for LSU. But LSU is always up there at or near the top. If you get significant playing time there you're good.
