Cory Peoples joins CSU staff as cornerbacks coach

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern head coach Jamey Chadwell announced the addition of former University of South Carolina and NFL standout Cory Peoples to the staff as cornerbacks coach.

Peoples, a 2005 South Carolina graduate who spent the 2005-2007 seasons as a player with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, comes to CSU after one season as secondary coach at Saint Augustine University (N.C.). He has also coached at Clark Atlanta University, Georgia Military College, and Keenan High School in Columbia, S.C.

"I'm thankful and excited for the opportunity to join Coach Chadwell's staff here at Charleston Southern," Peoples said. "I'm looking forward to getting to work and helping to build off some of the success they had here last year."

Peoples played alongside CSU linebackers coach Rod Wilson at South Carolina while Bucs' defensive coordinator Chad Staggs was a graduate assistant on the Gamecocks' staff.

"I'm excited about adding someone of Cory's caliber to the program," Chadwell said. "His familiarity with our coaches and our scheme will pay dividends. He is a top-notch recruiter and will fit into the mission of our program extremely well."

Another high quality addition to Coach Chadwell's staff.

Young, high energy, professional playing experience, collegiate playing experience in the SEC, and excellent recruiter.

A championship program and the ability to get the best talent starts with the Head Coach and his staff. I am pretty proud of ours.

Is it August 28th yet?

Chuck South seems to be doing everything right. In addition to having a young, high energy head coach (as BJ said), they've now hired another young assistant who has modern-day SEC and NFL experience. It frustrates me that VMI is seemingly incapable of doing this.

Look for Coastal and CSU to be front runners for the Big South this fall.
