I was never a fan of putting it in January, and I'm also not a fan of the last few years of late morning/early afternoon championship games.

I think it needs to happen post haste. With the new BCS playoff the FCS champ game will get lost in the shuffle.

Great, maybe he can manage to get back to the days of less than a 7 day window to book overpriced air fare.

It wasn't. The only bowl game that the FCS title game conflicted with this year was the BBVA Compass. And like this article says, if you go for December it makes travelling for fans and rest for players much more difficult. There's nothing you can really do about it, the FCS will just have to deal with being the irrelevant guy.

Then again it was never really nationally relevant. There has never been a FCS game seen by 3 million people..

Since 12 December 2009, I've talked to at least 3 million people that said THEY WERE in attendance at Washington/Grizzly...watching quite possibly the greatest FCS game every played between App State and the Griz!

Believe it or not, what I posted is a true story!

Losing to Villanova hurt real bad! But, at least the Griz lost to them in the National Championship game...

You have the season ending every year the Sat before Thanksgiving. With a 4 round playoffs prior to 2010 you would have the 1st round the Sat after Thanksgiving, the last Sat in Nov, with the NC game the 3rd Fri in Dec, always falling between the 14th and 20th. With a 5 round playoff in and still have the title game in Dec on a Fri night or Saturday afternoon now your talking a Fri or Sat between the 21st and 28th.

This year it would be either Fri night, Dec 26th or Sat, Dec 27th.
2015 would be Fri, Christmas night or Sat, Dec 26th.
2016 (leap yr) would be Fri night, Dec 23rd or Sat, Christmas Eve day.

Good luck with getting people to make travel plans (airfare, hotels) on only 6-8 days notice and change their family plans for Christmas. That ain't going to work.

A true fan would give up the holidays for football. I'd give up winter solstice.

I'm completely for it. I liked it a lot better when it was one week after the semifinals. Even though I was pulling for North Dakota State to beat Sam Houston State in each of their two match ups and think it helped North Dakota State to have the time to prepare for the BearKats' unusual offense I'd like it to go back to how it was. I think part of the attraction of the tournament is that coaching staffs have to prepare each week for a different opponent without even knowing for sure who they are until less than a week before they have to play them.

A college national championship on Thanksgiving or Friday after would be awesome.

Sure, we could do that by just moving the start of the season up to the end of July or cutting the regular season down to about 7 games.
