Apparently you gotta watch your drink when Jody Sears is around…

Dunno about the inner workings under Sperberck, but do know he cleaned up the program which had been a rotating door for aspiring dynastic regionals HS coaches...he brought them up to D1 standards. Both he and his father are well respected in NorCal. Hope he lands on his feet.
Suckie decision by AD.

This. Sperbeck did a great job of cleaning up the off the field nonsense of the prior coaches. Kids were graduating, there were no major off the field issues (that I'm aware of) that lead to embarrassment for the program and university. He was a hell of a recruiter and on the field he got us to be competitive even though he never got us over the hump. He did provide stability to the program and its pretty sad that an anonymous 10 page letter of "minor infractions" is what determined his ouster.
That said I think he peaked and I wasn't expecting more than a middle of the road program so long as he was HC and I think most of the fans felt the same way. I'm ok with his departure, just sucks with the timing. I do hope this can lead to a new AD as well. Many feel Wanless is part of the problem of this program being stuck in the mud and it's hard to disagree with this.
As for Sears, he inherits a talented roster with senior leadership and young talent (assuming they stay committed to Sac State) and gets to parlay that with the weakest schedule in the BSC. If he can rail off 7+ wins hard to see him not given the full time gig.

SD already knows my choices for the next HC, and he doesn't want me to repeat them here....
He's probably right....

Would it be the big brother of the Pamgate idiot?

He's on my short list, yes. You've already heard the others
ad infinitum, though.
I think you're confusing two different scandals, though. The way I heard it, that particular scandal was known as PAMScam, while there was also the Stingergate scandal. Gotta get the names right, GL.

AD Wanless announced his retirement a few weeks back. Looks like wholesale changes coming to Hornet athletics in the near future.
