In an effort to toughen up Montana's future schedules and bring more exposure to the Football Championship Subdivision, athletic director Jim O'Day has engaged in talks with his contemporaries at prominent FCS schools about scheduling possibilities.

Notably, O'Day is working to put together a home-and-home with FCS powerhouse Appalachian State.

That would be great - if they can get App State to travel.

App State refused a home and home with NAU the other year.

Well App St. will get paid to come here and Montana would get paid to go there. I see this as a big pay day for each school if a deal gets done. Charge 50 bucks a ticket and the stadium will sell out quicker than a virgin on prom night.

yep, I would pay Bobcat or Homecoming prices for that game any day of the week. I remember about a year ago reading somewhere that Jim ODay and the AD from App were kind of chummy or that ODay had said some nice things about the guy and that led me to believe that they had been talking or had met and talkied n some occasion because I remember ODay had said something to the effect that their AD was a "real nice guy".

I am just waiting for Appaholic to chime in with his two cents on this topic.

he has but one tool in his toolbox and me posting this statement would be the only thing that would keep him from using it. i hold out little hope in spite of this fact.

They also turned down a home and home with UNI as recently as this past year.....then again Montana turned down a home and home with UNI as well.

Well as you can see it's gonna take some guaranteed money to move either one of these teams out of a money making environment. We have played at UNI and never had a return game back in 1987 or 88. I don't know if we were owed one and bought out or what the deal was but we played there last as far as non play off stuff goes.

The Northern Arizona game was a one and done deal. The Jacks were paid for the game in Boone, and I don't think there was ever any talk of making it an actual series.

Pretty much the same is being done with McNeese this year with the Cowboys traveling to ASU. An actual home and home will take place when App travels to Lake Charles in 2013 and McNeese returns to Boone in 2014.

I believe any talk with UNI was merely speculation and certainly not anywhere close to either school "backing out" on each other.

Oh, and a series with the Griz would be fantastic. :D

Providing the Griz travel first and there's a gigantic dollar amount in the buyout clause.

We don't owe anybody shit but I would like to see us go to Brooking and get them a home game to create a lot of excitement between the schools again. If you're in on the negotiations Mountaineer I don't think it will go so well. Stay the fuck out of the room if you do have any input as I want the game to happen.

We don't need you.
You don't need us.

This looks to me to be a nice effort on behalf of the AD's to really give the fans something great.

I totally want the game to happen. :D I just want it in Boone first. :P :poke:

But yeah, I hope O'Day and Cobb can pull this one off. I'll be a lot of fun.

From our end I would not think they will do it at our house in a year the Cats are onna be here. We already have two $50 game tickets in those years so I am sure it would have to fall in an away year from home for the Griz/Cat game. I think the reason for the big payday for each school in the home and home is that although we could make more than the $350K if we just played regular school at home, we would be about equal over a two year period if they raised the price of the ticket for the App game. The payday from App combined with teh gate for our home game with App would be around 1.3-1.4 million. That's a little better than the normal 600k they would make with other games. The same would be true for you guys in reverse.

Your behavior will relatively unnoticed here Appa. Missoula on game day, as you have seen, is a town full of Appaholic's. hell I was telling Bench that I was proud of you for representing NC so well in that you are one of the few that have been here that could actually keep pace. He informed me that you are a very special man in terms of the average drinker in NC.

I have a pack of assorted livers that I will lend you upon your return.

"Your flattery" seems like an odd name for your new butt plug. Did you wear out the "Black Cowboy" already?

Oh, and if by "keeping pace", you mean blacking out, pissing yourself and waking up with a pregnant hooker, then yes, Bench should be proud.....

Personally I think Appaholic's billings was like a Tyson fight. All hyped up and then no show. He did drink a little and partied his ass off. But no shotgunning. He brags about shotgunning beers at App St. games. He has pics of him shotgunning beers in his sig. Yet, NO shotgunning of beers at the tailgate, no shotgunning of beers after the game, no shotgunning of beers at The Lumberjack, and especially no shotgunning of Talls when I picked him up on Sunday morning.

Appaholic doesn't even deserve to be an 'aholic. He is just a poser.

I will shotgun one for you in a minute here. Gotta check on the stuffed salmon in the oven. Hope Budweiser will do.

Ironically, if you replace my name with Montana, it's a fairly accurate staement of their recent football seasons....

Then We'd have to go and make Cleets App State so we better leave it as it stands.
