January 13th, 2014 -
The Charleston Southern Buccaneers will host four consecutive night games to open the season and make road trips to face two Southeastern Conference teams as part of their 2014 football schedule, CSU announced on Monday.
The Bucs will debut the new lights and host the program's first night game at Buccaneer Field against Point University (Ga.) to open the season on Thursday night, Aug. 28.
"This is an exciting time in our program's history," CSU head coach Jamey Chadwell said Monday. "Lights are a big addition to our facility and will enhance the overall game experience......."

If you want to bold type home games the Citadel game is a home game as well. Yep, the dogs finally come to our house.

Wow. You better get the auto-bid. I don't see an at-large coming out of THAT schedule. I think you've scheduled yourselves out of the playoffs if you don't get the auto. And CCU is going to have a LOT to say about THAT. I'd like to say Liberty, too, but I think they've scheduled themselves out of the playoffs, too....
9-3...EFFECTIVE 7-3...might not be good enough. Nearly guaranteed loss: UGA. Probable loss: Vandy. Tough game, which I'm calling a loss: CCU. Beat CCU, and there's the auto-bid.

I completely concur. We have to win the conference to get to the playoff with this schedule.

The GOOD news, though, is that given the state of the Big South, beating CCU pretty much guarantees you that auto-bid unless you crap your pants somewhere along the line...which I don't see happening....

Dude, that is EXACTLY what happened in 2013. How can you not see that happening?

Well, I can tell you for sure that after we were 10-1 with two games to go I could not fathom how we could possibly lose to GW and Liberty but we did.

Not worried at all. We'll be back at the top next season.
We had a young team this year and got 10 wins with that young team and a new coach. We'll be even better next season with more experience and a full offseason with the coaching staff.
Coach Chadwell and staff are assembling a GREAT recruiting class, the most talented class in school history. One of which is a 3-star and is the #33 ranked WR in the state of SC.

Coming off last season, I think i'd work on playing better teams. Newberry, Campbell, Point? You can count the UGA and Vandy games as a loss. Liberty, CCU and GWebb will be tough games. I don't know about Monmouth and The Citadel is totally up in the air.
Definite losses: UGA and Vandy
Potential Losses: The Citadel, GWEBB, CCU and Liberty. This category is the tricky one. After last season, you guys beat CCU but then lose to GWEBB and Liberty. Maybe El Cid was a fluke last year. Hmmm.

Hahaha. Crap their pants like this did in 2013? They beat CCU but then lost to two teams that CCU beat? Crap their pants like that?

You miss the point. Yes, CSU beat Coastal but then utterly collapsed over the final two weeks. You can't deem a scenario as something as unlikely to happen when that exact same scenario is exactly what JUST happened.

Exactly. A lot went into the losses in the last two weeks of the season. Not excuses, just facts. GW and Liberty both played well and deserved to win. They both beat us.
However, that was the 12th and 13th straight weeks. No open date. We sacrificed the open date for an opportunity to get valuable exposure and to make some money to enable us to make some upgrades. Injuries caught up to in a big way those last two weeks. We had a very young team, meaning several of the starters were playing high school football less than a year earlier. The team was also mentally and physically fatigued by that point, and it showed. I was at both games. The mental mistakes were very apparent in the GW game.
Yes, we have to win the conference. That's fine. Its out there. We need to win the conference. Last time I checked, that is everybody's goal. So what's the point?

I doubt 1 extra game caused you to lose 2. You guys might have beaten yourselves, much like CCU did when they lost to CSU.

Great season with 10 wins but will be hard to duplicate that this year with that schedule. I think several teams will be better in Big South with alot of returning talent including Gardner Webb and also Presbyterian which has picked up a couple of FBS transfers. I think teams will underestimate Monmouth. You could be looking at 6-6.

Chuck South picked up a pretty damn good FBS transfer as well in Austin Brown who was a two year starter for UAB. Oughta be some fierce competition for the starting QB spot this fall between him and Crohgan.
