Bethune-Cookman @ Coastal Carolina

A classic battle of offense vs. defense. BCU's rushing attack could give CCU's soft D problems, but I'm taking the Chants for 3 reasons: they're at home, the Wildcat special teams suck, and MEAC teams tend to struggle in the playoffs against these kind of high-octane offenses that they never see in conference.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- Coastal Carolina

        Running Backs - Coastal Carolina

        Receivers/TEs - Coastal Carolina

        Offensive Line - Coastal Carolina

        Defensive Line - Bethune-Cookman

        Linebackers --- (push)

        Secondary ---- Bethune-Cookman

        Kicking ------ Coastal Carolina

        Punting ------ Coastal Carolina

        Return Teams - (push)

        Kickoffs ------ Coastal Carolina

        • Bethune-Cookman 24-34 Coastal Carolina

Don't forget BCU has one of the overall stingier defensive units in the playoffs!!!!

I honestly think bcu wins this. I think ccu is overrated. Then I'm also glad they are coming to Montana. A trip from hell. 2500 miles, from 60-70 degree to forcasted high if 14. That's just a bad trip all together. But bcu has as better chance vs um in my opinion than ccu does.

I know it's last season but CCU has beat B-C before. Last year. In the playoffs. In Daytona. Coastal has been preparing in 40-60 degree weather with a wind chill that knocks it down about 5-10 degrees. They are preparing in an uncomfortable climate. Will it be colder than what they are use to? Yes. But for our sake, I hope we score early and at least give you a run for your money.

I think ccu is the scary team. They have that explosive possibility. If the make it here, ccu will be interesting. Running teams don't get affected by the cold as much as high octane teams. However that all goes out the door when they step into a stadium with that much intensity both teams will be ready. The cold becomes a factor after the game settles down. Who can hang onto the ball. Both teams have to play in it....

Yup. Eventually, running around will warm the body up. 8-) I hope when CCU gets out there, even with a loss, they earn some respect.

I am concerned about both teams. The crwod may not be that big of a factor because I think both have played in stadiums with over 40k. But the cold will have a psychological effect at a minimum. I would rather play BC because I think Montana's run defense is better than their pass defense. In any case, good luck to both and I am looking forward to reading the box scores because we can't get ESPN3.

I think BCU is looking for payback that loss really hurt the Wildcats and they are looking forward to returning the favor.

Wanting a win doesn't equate to the ability to compete and win.

Coastal played in front on 10s of 1000s many time before, even as recent as last Saturday.

Every Southern team seems to think this, but when they get out there and the Hellgate winds start howling you can tell they want nothing to do with it.

There have been a lot of teams who have played in stadiums with a lot larger crowds than Washington-Grizzly stadium, but then seem to really struggle with the crowd noise when they do play in Missoula.

CCU is WAY over rated, with a weak D, but I still think they beat BC. That will be their last win for the year though. Hope it is a good game.

Coastal's running game can be effective. IMO the key for any team is to get up early, by double digits which will put pressure on Montana and make them get them get away from trying to be balanced. UNI got a lead in 2011 but could not hang on. Montana is a tough place to play for (insert your reason) . Teams can come in and win but it takes a complete effort to do so.

After watching both of these teams for a half, I can't help but think that Montana got an even bigger gift than we thought. Neither is a very good team. Bethune-Cookman doesn't even look playoff caliber IMO.

Bethune-Cookman putting out a typical MEAC game against a team from the rest of the real football world.

Why does the MEAC ever get a team other than their auto bid? :dunce:

How do they get a auto bid at all? I believe Montana will roll next week,as long as they are not overconfident. Seachickens just doesn't have a very good defense. You stop their running game and they don't have a real good offense. Should be fun to watch, especially in the cold.

Every single FCS league now has a bid to the playoffs except the SWAC who does their black bowls....the Ivy turns it down every year though, thus the 11/13 imbalance in AQ/AL.

The MEAC and OVC continually get way more teams than they should...every single year.

No fucking shit.

The MEAC and OVC.

The OVC gets their first playoff win since 1997 today with TSU getting gifted the PFL champion....

They also get a second win next week as it's TSU/EIU.

The NCAA found a way to shut OVC "haters" up this year. Lets give them a PFL team with a second round game being against another OVC team....they have to win at least one of them!

Don't be too sure of a second win Eastern Illinois with that lethal pass happy attack is no joke it's the best in the FCS and TSU has the stingiest pass defense in the FCS!!!!
