This year is 'special' in a number of ways more so than others.

With Appalachian's pending move, the Battle for the Jug is effectively over this year (the series dates back to the Great Depression).

The HC at The Whee, Mark Speir, is a long-time Hillbilly. I suspect 4 or 5 of his assistants have similar lineage.

And, regretfully with the weather outlook (and the pratfalls of the team this year), a game of historical traditions (and drunken pageantry!) that typically sees crowds of 30K at Kidd-Brewer conceivably might go out with a whimper ...
