Would Montana Be Out If...

They lose to the cats and SUU beats NAU?
It would be tough to justify 5 bids from the Big Fluffy, they would have the weakest resume with no marquee wins, and lost the head to head to NAU and MSU.
Hard to imagine a 9-3 Montana being denied for the likes of a 9-3 TSU but it could happen.
Discuss....

Interesting question. There is a good chance all 5 could get in in that scenario.

Cats won't beat the griz, so none of this matters.

I agree that all 5 would have excellent resumes and be under strong consideration if MSU takes Montana and I assume you mean SUU will beat Nothern Az as well.
If that is the scenario all 5 will likely get in.
The more likely scenario in my opinion is that Montana beats MSU. MSU is out in that scenario with 5 losses and an inexplicable bad loss to Stephen F. Austin. If SUU loses, they are on the bubble too because their scheduling was weak. So it may be as few as 3 teams from the Big Fluffy. But either way, Montana is in.

Only if a lot of things happen. See my post on the playoff picture thread.

If not 5, then either MSU or SUU gets left out.
Crazier things have happened.

MSU would have wins against top 10-15 NAU and Montana plus the head to head.
SUU would have wins against FBS South Alabama, top 15-20 MSU and NAU, and would be riding a 4 game win streak with the same record as the Griz.
Montana's best win would be 5-6/6-6 Poly, Sac, or USD?

SUU lost to UC Davis.
MSU lost to SFA.
Montana would have no bad losses.

Nope. MSU will most likely get rocked this weekend and miss out on the playoffs.
EWU, UM, NAU, SUU.

All of those teams you listed have 4 losses or 5 in the case of Central Ark. Most of them figure to lose this week, MSU to Montana, Delaware to Villanova, SDSU to YSU, UNH to Maine, JMU to Towson and Central Ark to SHSU. So, what you will have is a lot of teams with 5 losses that may need to be considered to fill out the bracket.
William and Mary figures to win and should go if they win against Richmond this week.
Add, Northern Iowa and Villanova who have 5 losses but figure to win this week to the list of potential 23rd or 24th teams to be selected. They both have stronger schedules than the other teams listed and will have finished strong with two good wins.
