Didn't work. I think Sam Houston State had a shot but I said before the game that Southeastern Louisiana has the better football team and the way that game unfolded was consistent with that belief. And any chance Sam Houston State had was long gone when QB Brian Bell went down at the end of a long run.
You'd have had to have had Sam Houston State come out ahead in the breaks column and instead Southeastern Louisiana did. From stuff like having the officials call a Southeastern guy down when he really fumbled to a Sam Houston guy dropping a TD pass to Bell getting knocked out of the game. Just wasn't going to happen.
