Big Sky Power Rankings 11-11

Hard to imagine that we just have two weeks left before the playoffs begin. Still a lot of moving around. How many bids will the Big Sky get in the playoffs? Still a lot of football left. Here are this week's power rankings (last week's rankings in parenthesis). This should create some good discussion. Have at it.

1. Eastern Washington (1)---The Eagles greeted fellow power Montana State head on last week and pulled away in the second half, ensuring some dominance in the conference race. The title is theirs to lose, but they still have some tough games left. This weekend they hit the road against a tough Cal Poly team.

2. Montana State (2)---The Bobcats did not fair so well last week at Eastern Washington in a big marquee matchup in the conference. All is not lost as they still have enough to play for a playoff berth. This weekend they stay at home for a game against Southern Utah.

3. Northern Arizona (3)---The Lumberjacks took last week off to prepare for their final two games of the year, hoping to stay on the task at hand and not deviate from it. This weekend they meet up at home with struggling Northern Colorado.

4. Montana (4)---The Grizzlies met up out of conference last week with a pesky squad from the Missouri Valley conference, South Dakota, where they finally pulled out a win in the fourth quarter. Are they ready for a push into the playoffs? This weekend they host Weber State.

5. Cal Poly (6)---The Mustangs may not have much to play for, but they certainly dispatched Sacramento State's hopes for a good season. The Mustangs are poised to end the year on a good note and possibly play spoiler to many good teams. It continues this weekend, hosting Eastern Washington.

6. Southern Utah (7)---The Thunderbirds struggled a bit with Weber State last weekend before finally coming through at the end. Still harboring some thoughts for a playoff bid, they can't afford a loss now. Things do get tough this weekend as they head up to Montana State.

7. Portland State (8)---The Vikings exorcised some demons last weekend, putting away Idaho State on the road in a place that has not been too kind to the Vikings. This weekend they get a chance to ruin another team's good season, hosting Sacramento State.

8. Sacramento State (5)---It is totally unclear where the minds of the Hornets are at. After losing a heartbreaker at home to Montana, they completely fell apart last week at Cal Poly. They need to regroup in a hurry to salvage their good season. This weekend they head back out on the road to Portland State.

9. UC-Davis (9)---The Aggies took last weekend off to finish their surprising rebuilding season on a good note. They get another good chance at a win this weekend, bringing in reeling North Dakota to their home turf. And the year goes on.

10. North Dakota (10)---The former Sioux' troubling season almost went completely bad, falling behind Northern Colorado only to recover and rally for the win. The rest of the conference teams still have two games left, but for the former Sioux, only one game is left in this troubling year, at UC-Davis.

11. Idaho State (11)---The Bengals have not given up on the season yet, clearly evident by the game they gave to Portland State last weekend. They still have two games left, but this weekend they step out of conference, as well as the FCS to play Brigham Young.

12. Northern Colorado (12)---The Bears had a great chance for a win on the road at North Dakota last weekend, before losing the game late. Still playing tough, they head out on the road this weekend to Northern Arizona with a chance to spoil a team's season.

13. Weber State (13)---The Wildcats gave a good tussle to Southern Utah last weekend, but the result was pretty similar to their own season. They get another chance at a win this weekend, a slight chance as they head out to the mighty Montana home field.

RECAP: 1 the frontrunner, 2-4 just behind, 5 lagging a bit, 6-9 in the middle, 10 a bit behind, 11-13 trailing

MSU should be below both NAU & Montana. They've looked questionable for a full month, now.

Agreed. Right now I'd have NAU or UM at the #2 spot, with the MSU at #4.

Question, if Cal Poly pulls off a huge upset Saturday what will that do to the rankings?

I think we need to put EWU @ #1 and leave the #2 spot blank. Spots 3-5 are a toss up between NAU, UM and MSU.

Yeah, but you couldn't beat EWU in Ogden to win the conference outright.
