Preseason ranking (or the lack thereof) still dragging us. Plus we were absolutely shellacked by Maine and Navy early.

Maine, a top 5 team and FBS Navy.

The UD offense versus the William and Mary defense is going to be a very interesting matchup to watch in this game.
UD Offense:
34.0 pts/gm (2nd CAA)
444.0 yds/gm (2nd CAA)
WM Defense:
12.4 pts/gm (1st CAA)
303.3 yds/gm (1st CAA)

And going the other way:
WM Offense:
22.1 pts/gm (8th CAA)
328.1 yds/gm (10th CAA)
UD Defense:
30.4 pts/gm (9th CAA)
413.8 yds/gm (8th CAA)

Fine, go with 22K if you want. The attendance record is 23,719 in a game against Temple 40 years ago. Dude, you really have a penis-measuring fascination, don't you?

With the elections over there should be some heavy hitters in attendance: Chris Christie and Joe Biden.
Better be 20k or more for Parents Day.

Navy isn't a good FBS, though. Not one a good FCS team should be losing to by anywhere near 44 points, anyway. Delaware's resume was kinda iffy until beating Towson. I had UD at #11 in my AGS ballot, btw, so I'm not trying to say they're overrated or anything. It's just that not ranking them highly was justifiable prior to now.
Even matchup in this game. Both teams have done a good job winning in spite of their weaknesses being fairly prominent. UD has allowed 34 ppg in three of their last four, but they are 3-1 in those games. W&M is only averaging 19.5 ppg in their last 6, but they're 4-2 in those games.

William and Mary is a very interesting team. They don't fit the normal profile of a CAA team or FCS teams for that matter. The best teams can usually put up half a hundred and just outscore their opponents. I know after the game against Nova I thought they were the best team we had played up to that point. We had played BC and Fordham but William and Mary was the only team able to slow Nova down when they still had Abdur Rahman.
If Delaware can put up 24 points they should prevail but that's not a lock. Winner is in for sure one would think given Richmond is still on the schedule. Loser will be nervous on selection day if they don't win out.

Notre Dame must suck too, because Navy traded score with them the entire game.
Bottom line is, UD is 7-2 with multiple wins over ranked teams. We are getting minimal love compared to teams with the exact resume. But that's fine, we just need to make the playoffs. We've shown in the past 11 seasons that once we get in the dance, we usually do very well (03, 07, 10 seasons we were 10-2 in playoffs). It'll be interesting to see how all the Johnny-come-lately noobs above us in the rankings do in a playoff situation once they get out of their cruise control conferences.

With Christie the word 'heavy' doesn't do it justice....WIN AND WE'RE IN....let's do it.

SFA is no Maine and SMU is not a good FCS team either. Navy lost in OT to the same Toledo team that beat EWU.

No shit ND sucks. Did you see what Bama did to them last year?

I'll say 17-14 Delaware. Home field edge.

There was a big stretch in the 90's where it seemed that UD/W&M always played close games.

They also had Towson as a 17.5 favorite last week. They are slipping this year, but that's good for the informed gambler.
4.5 just seems nuts to me. I would have figured UD as favorite in the 2.5 - 4.5 range.

No, it's just capacity and attendance are 2 different things. Example- UNH's listed capacity is 8k, and I believe they've had over 10k before.
Bridgeforth's capacity in 08' was 15.5k, and most of the home games in 08' had listed attendance above that. The App State game was over 17k.
App's capacity is listed at 24k+, and they've regularly exceeded that and have had over 30k..

I wonder if they're looking more at Sagarin #'s this time of the year in setting FCS lines.....

That was one of my thoughts. UD is horrid in the Sagarin this year. We're certainly no Bethune Cookman!
