Well, Charleston Southern is 9-1, guaranteeing at least a tie for it's most wins ever, along with the 2006 9-2 finish. Their final three are Coastal, Gardner Webb and Liberty. All three very tough games.
CCU is blasting UNC-Charlotte.
Saturday, November 9th, Charleston Southern Stadium, the likely 10-0 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers visit the 9-1 CSU Buccaneers.
Its gonna be a fun one!!!!
And for this week...let me reawaken the 2005 CSU vs CCU ghosts and say "PUNT COASTAL PUNT!!!!"

No more damn super safety's. What a bad call that was. We should've gone for the FG.
I'm excited about this game. This is always a fun game to attend. To me, this is the real rivalry.
If any of you Bucs want to meet up, let me know. I'll be tailgating and should have some good booze with me.

This could be a classic rivalry, but honestly, we need to win a few more. What are we....3-7? 4-6 maybe vs you guys?
That 2005 game was a classic rivalry-maker, as you guys had so much on the line and that game cost you all the playoffs that year. But, we didn't follow it up. We tanked in 2009-2010 and stunk it up a while.
But, here we are. Looks like the Big South probably gets decided Saturday! Wish the two schools and fan bases could get up some sort of name to call this game, start a true rivalry. If CSU wins Saturday, it just may officially be one.

Based on what I saw from CSU today with my own two eyes in Clinton at PC, I am concerned. If they play next week like they played today, it could be ugly.
The good thing is, a poor performance like today should serve as a force that will focus and motivate them this week. There is plenty to work on for next week. Our execution was not very crisp today.
CSU can be much better than they were today.

This game likely decides the Big South AQ, but both teams have problems after. For CCU, it's South Carolina. For Chuck South, it's potential spoiler Liberty. That could be a trap game for Chuck South.
In the best of all worlds, BOTH get in. I'm not so sure the committee will see the Big South as a two-bid league, though, even with our expando-playoffs. Looking at previous games, including who was played and how big the spreads were, my gut says that CCU gets the AQ and CSU gets the snub. I hope both get in, though, because that will help the league immensely.

Yeah, I hope they both get in. And maybe with the SoCon being so down this year, they will. Looks like either Samford, Wofford or Chattanooga will win the SoCon. I think 2-3 of those have a loss to a Big South team. So, the CCU/CSU loser would be competing with the 2nd place SoCon team for an at large I think.
Wofford is the highest ranked SoCon team. Best hope is for Wofford to win the SoCon, and the 2nd place team- probably Samford- not be ranked. And, for CSU to beat CCU, and both finish in the top 20. CCU has a better brand-name than CSU, so CCU would be more likely to get an at large, so for both to make it, CSU probably would have to win the league. CCU could probably pull an at large, CSU probably couldn't.

Our loss to USC won't hurt us. Especially in the Big South. It's a money game.

Like your optimism and I hope you beat CCU, but your chances of winning 1 more game this year are no better than 30-40% IMVVVVHO.

Why? Our record the past 5-6 years or so vs Gardner Webb is quite good, and they are struggling. So is Liberty.
I'd say our chances of beating CCU is about 30%-40%.
But winning just another game? I say GWU and Liberty we have about an 80% chance of winning 1 of those 2, 50% chance we win both, and 40% chance we lose both, unless we get a critical injury this week.

I don't see you stopping CCU's running game. They have a very average defense, but don't see you guys having the ability to outscore them. LU struggling? Taking CCU to OT and losing by 3 points, they had the game won, and choked it away. Their defense has allowed 7 points in the last 2 games? Mind you, they were not powerful teams. You do have them at home which is a positive. GW is the best chance for a win. But you are on the road and will have a big letdown after a huge reality check against CCU. You will have to bounce back big time. Good luck, hope I am wrong.

My point is only valid if CCU loses to Chuck South. Of course, even WITH a loss to Chuck South, an upset over USC will get you in regardless, and said upset paired with a WIN over Chuck South could do wonders for CCU's placement in the bracket. Perhaps not enough to get the Chants a seed, but fairly close....

Ah, ok. I agree, CCU is gonna be VERY tough. We'll need our best game just to hang with them, and some luck to pull out a win. Liberty is tough, as always, and they've lost on some bad breaks. But, they come to Charleston. And, looking at history, CSU has always found a way to play Liberty tough most years, even in losses. Again, a tough game. But, CSU has maybe their best team in school history right now, right there with the 2005/2006 teams.
I think CSU can beat GWU though. The Bucs have won 9 games. That's no fluke. I just don't think they lose 3 straight.
