CAA Week 9 Prediction Thread

by BDKJMU
I assume that for the CAA:
-8-4 is a near lock (no one plays a Div II).
-8-3 is a lock, 7-4 is on the bubble for the 3 teams, VU, UNH, and SBU, that play only 11 games.
-Anyone that loses 5 games is completely eliminated from playoff contention.
-With 5 weeks to go, 8 of 11 CAA teams still in playoff contention.

CAA standings & to get to 8 wins:
1. Maine 6-1/3-0: needs to win 2 of 5. Remaining: @ VU, SBU, @ Albany, URI, @ UNH.
2. TU 7-1/3-1: needs to win 1 of 4 @ UR, UD, @ W&M, JMU.
-- VU 4-3/3-1: needs to win out, only 11 games. Remaining: Maine, @ JMU, @ URI, UD.
4. UD 5-2/2-1: needs to win 3 of 5. Remaining @ URI, @ TU, W&M, UR, @ VU.
-- JMU 5-2/2-1: needs to win 3 of 5. Remaining @ W&M, VU, @ UNH, SBU, @ TU
-- UNH 3-3/2-1: needs to win out, only 11 games. Remaining: @ SBU, @ W&M, JMU, @ Albany, Maine
8. W&M 4-3/1-2: needs to win 4 of 5. Remaining: JMU, UNH, @ UD, TU, @ UR
-- SBU 3-3/1-2: needs to win out, only 11 games. Remaining: UNH, @ Maine, UR, @ JMU, Albany

7. URI 3-5/2-3: eliminated from playoff contention.
10. UR 2-5/0-3: eliminated from playoff contention.
11. Albany 1-7/0-4: eliminated from playoff contention.

Maine and Townson are locks. villanova, UNH, W&M and Stony are cooked. Delaware and JMU have tough roads, but one of the two is in. However, with an expanded field this year, don't discount a 7 win team from making it.

Delaware 31, URI 17. UD has been horrendous on the road and also were their last game vs Albany, but they did have a bye week.
Towson 27, UR 20. TU 2nd straight game on road, has letdown. UR loses 6th game by a TD or less.
Villanova 27, Maine 24. If Nova doesn't upset Maine, Maine could end up 11-1 (last 4 games are SBU, @ Albany, URI, @ UNH).
JMU 24, W&M 17. JMU coming off bye week makes up for being @ W&M.
UNH 31, SBU 27. UNH on road after big Nova win, SBU coming off of a bye week.

Bye: Albany

JMU has won 8 of the last 9. Really seem to have W&M's #:
JMU 48, W&M 34, 04' Williamsburg, semis
JMU 30, W&M 29, 05' Williamsburg, JMU wins on last second FG.
JMU 31, W&M 17, 06' Harrisonburg
JMU 55, W&M 34, 07' Williamsburg
JMU 48, W&M 24, 08' Harisonburg
W&M 24, JMU 3, 09' Williamsburg
JMU 30, W&M 24, 10', Harrisonburg. JMU came into the game 4-5/1-5. W&M came in 7-2/5-1, ranked #1.
JMU 20, W&M 14, 11', Williamsburg. JMU was #10/#12. W&M was ranked #5/#6.
JMU 27, W&M 26, 2OT, 12', Harrisonburg. W&M should have won, but snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

I wouldn't call 8-4 a near lock, not just yet. 7-4 = pretty much no chance.

Charleston Southern 7-1
Maine 6-1
Villanova 4-3
Towson 7-1
Delaware 5-2
James Madison 5-2
New Hampshire 3-3
William & Mary 4-3
Bethune-Cookman 6-1
South Carolina State 5-2
North Dakota State 7-0

Fordham 8-0
Lehigh 6-1
Wofford 5-2
Samford 5-2
Chattanooga 5-2
Butler 6-2

Good work (for once) 89!!

Add Jacksonville St (5-2) in there too & I think you've got it.

Hey!

I actually omitted JSU on purpose because there is no way in hades that the OVC gets three teams in and I don't see them beating EIEIU. That would give them 3 OVC losses.

2010-2011 from the CAA, So-Con, MVFC, 7 teams finished 7-4, all Div I, played a I-A. All 7 made the 20 team playoffs. Of course last yr a # didn't. Now we have a 24 team playoff. Plausible that a 7-4 vs Div I (Nova) will make the playoffs from the CAA. Remember, the majority of your 8-4 from the MVFC/Big Sky/Southland will be 7-4 vs Div I.

SUU could (but most likely won't) run the table and finish with three losses. Would require wins over MSU and NAU.

Delaware 35 rhode island 21 hens remember to bring their supurior talent with them on the plane ride this road trip.
Towson 45 richmond 14 after a pitiful performance against rhody, what are they going to do with terrence west running wild against them?
James madison 27 william&mary 17 dukes continue their domainant streak over the tribe.
Maine 33 villanova 28 most interesting matchup this week, could go either way, but I think the black bear defense will make the difference.
New hampshire 38 stony brook 27 the cats try to keep their playoff hopes alive.

A lot of those teams won't finish with 8 Div I wins, esp considering a lot play a Div II. Also no need to list more than 1 Pioneer team. You listed 2, plus BHB mentioned JSU. Not a snowballs's chance in hell the Pioneer gets an at large.

UD 17 @ URI 20

I think Delaware is a bad team who happened to play exceptionally well in one game against JMU. URI is also a bad team, but the Hens on the road will be a little worse.

TU 35 @ UR 10

The Fightin' Andys should win confortably

Maine 28 @ Villanova 24

Looking forward to a close, hard fought game.

JMU 17 @ W&M 21

I give the home edge to the Tribe

SBU 10 @ UNH 28

Cats fairly easily.

I'll wager you anything you want that JMU scores more than 10 points....10 or less you win, 11 or more I win...

Sure..how about this. Eagleskins owes me $100 for the Nats not winning 100 games this MLB season. If you win the bet, I'll pass his debt to me over to you & you can chase him down for the money. If I win you owe me $100. Deal? :kisswink:

You have much to learn, my young bitch.

Next time you'll think twice before mouthing off to the pre-eminent mind of FCS football.

And by the way I was trying to be kind giving you 10. On the bright side you can clear your post thanksgiving plans haha.

I love ya' bill, but is that the same pre-eminent mind of FCS football that predicted URI putting up 34 on UD? :suspicious: The Rams put up a massive 279 yards of offense on UD.

But, you are correct about JMU...with UNH, Towson, and nova left, they are cooked.
