What has Wofford done to deserve to be #13?
Or Samford #14?

Only team either have beaten with more than two wins is Ga Southern, who has three weak wins, plus UTC.

If Samford's 14, we're definitely top 10.

Especially since Southeastern Louisiana beat Samford without their starting quarterback; who I think is worth at least 14 points in a game. Dominant player.

Just too bad the Lions couldn't protect the football at South Dakota State or they'd be close to a lock for the playoffs right now because unless they get devastated by injury they're not losing more than two more games this regular season. And they might not lose ANY more. I HOPE they lose at least ONE Saturday after next. But after watching them and that quarterback on TV a few times I certainly wont' be shocked if they don't lose any.

We're just taking them one at a time and let the chips fall where they may. Our concern right now is Lamar ... they're much better than folks give them credit for, particularly on defense.

Seriously... they may have won a lot of games (against mostly nobodies), but the only reason they're as high as they are in the polls is because of teams from the power conferences shitting the bed. Come playoff time, EIU, CCU will be one and done. I think Fordham has a chance to get an upset or two though.

Definitely not a Griz fan, but I would think if you're going to knock the Griz down for their "win" over Cal Poly, its only fair to knock Coastal down for their "win" over Liberty. Just saying.

EIU has beaten nobodies? Have you been in a coma the whole season?

They beat SIU, hammered an FBS, and nearly beat a (now) ranked FBS. Nothing but nobodies there…

Having seen CCU in action (albeit for just a few OT periods), I think they're going to surprise some people in the playoffs. Don't let the Big South designation fool you. This is a good team....

Why would I? I think EIU is solid. Fordham is probably better than the typical Lehigh playoff team we've seen in recent years. CCU I don't know a helluva lot about. I ding them for being BS, but hell, maybe they are pretty good after all.

This looks like a good poll btw.

Because I didn't want to have do it IF they actually made it. 8-)

Best poll I've seen yet. Outdoing AGS this week and a mile ahead of TSN & Coaches.

Nitpicking: I still don't get the 10-spot separation between JMU and UD in just about every poll. Sure, UD got waxed by Navy and Maine but those losses were expected. UD beat JMU. Both teams are 5-2.

True, JMU isn't very good, that will play out as the season advances. Outside of Stony Brook they're probably underdogs in every game they play.

Lamar ... they're much better than folks give them credit for, particularly on defense.
I think there's something to that and I do think they're a lot better than they've been since bringing their program back. But on the other hand Central Arkansas did jut put up 26 points and 417 yards on them in Beaumont without Smothers (who, if you haven't heard, was lost for the season the previous week).

One thing is true though: There aren't any really, really weak teams in the Southland this year. As I wrote earlier this season it's the strongest the Southland has been top to bottom in a long time.

Smothers or no Smothers, UCA has a difficult offense to defend, conceptually, and really doesn't matter who they have pulling the trigger, assuming they have a reasonable amount of physical ability. Smothers gave them an added dimension, but the guy they have in there now has a good grasp of the offense. That aside, Lamar had them defended pretty well most of the night, UCA simply made some plays late to win.

As for the Southland as a whole, this year is the strongest I've seen it, top to bottom, since we've been a member ... there may not be a super elite team, but there are three or four really good teams and the rest are capable on any given Saturday. SFA is down from what they have been over the last four or five years, but NW State is improved, and Nicholls is definitely improved as is Lamar.

Still a lot of football left to play!

Reading comprehension is key. I was referring to all three teams, and I said mostly nobodies.

You specifically said EIU would be "one & done" & referenced schedule strength in your argument, so it appears I can comprehend your writing better than you can. :coffee:

Fail, once again. I never disputed that I said EIU would be one and done. What I disputed was EIU "beating nothing but nobodies" because I said that THEY (in reference to EIU, CCU, and Fordham) have played MOSTLY nobodies. Goddamn. :ohno:

So what the hell is your argument, then? Is EIU gonna be one & done because of a weak schedule? Because they wear blue? Because SH prays so hard for Tony Romo's failure that it rubs off?

Do you even have an argument? :?

EIU is a good team but plays no defense.
