6-0 Charleston Southern Winning, Blasting Music at Practice

6-0 CSU Buccaneers Keep Winning Keep Blasting Music at Practice
The Charleston Southern football team wasn’t supposed to be 6-0, but a spotless record isn’t the only unusual thing about the sizzling Buccaneers. First-year head coach Jamey Chadwell lets his players practice to music. At other schools, the loudest sounds at workouts are popping pads and clashing helmets.
Selections range from classic rock to Christian rap. Chad Scott, CSU’s strength and conditioning coach, handles the play-list. “But I’m a big Jimmy Buffett and Kenny Chesney guy,” Chadwell said. “Sometimes I have to say, ‘Get my island music out there.’ We are in Charleston, after all.”
Chadwell says music lends to an ideal perspective. Something is working; CSU already has upset The Citadel and Appalachian State this season, winning both games on the road. Probably not many college football teams are listening to Whitesnake this week.
“We try to create an environment that, yes, we want to work hard but we also want it to be fun,” Chadwell said. “Football is very hard but we’re going to have a great time together, and music is a part of that.”

Christian rap.
Please tell me that's a misprint and that there's no such thing.

Don't be close minded. Rap isn't only about forties, blunts and bitches.

BTW enjoy it while you can but I just looked at the Charleson Southern schedule/results and I can see that it's going to boil down to what Charleston Southern does in its final three games against Coastal Carolina, Gardner Webb, and Liberty. I'm talking about in terms of whether or not they get into the tournament.

And BTW how on earth did Charleston Southern swing a 13 game regular season schedule?

They have a waiver for the Colorado game.

There is such a thing. It is not cheesy like it used to be. It has come a long way and is quite legit now.

Check out Lecrae.

Yes, the short story is we got a waiver for the game.

The long story is, Colorado had a game with Fresno State canceled due to the flooding earlier in the season. They needed to add a game to give them 12. They had an open date on the 19th.

They looked at all the other schools that had an open date on the 19th and reached out to Charleston Southern. Charleston Southern was interested and contacted the NCAA to get approval for the 13th game. A waiver was granted.

My guess is that CSU will win maybe 2 more games, Presby and VMI. It is good to get a big payday at CO. Enjoy the music while it lasts and good luck.

On one hand it's true that things have worked out where it's not certain they've faced a serious test. Going in one would've expected Appalachian State to be such a test but the wheels have come off in Boone. However, my guess is that they'll go into the Coastal Carolina game at 9-1 with the loss being to Colorado. That's because the other three games between now and then are against VMI, Charlotte, and Presbyterian. Charlotte may be an issue based on looking at their season results. But I think Charleston Southern should be favored.

Three of Charlotte's 4 wins are against Campbell, Chowan and Presby. Chuck South should ROLL Charlotte.

Has an undefeated team ever lost in the first round of the playoffs before?

CSU won't be making the playoffs, wouldn't worry about it.

Ugh, I clicked the link. Gene Sapakoff -- I have read him a few other times -- may be the biggest hack of a sportswriter this side of Lupica.

UNCC did beat G Webb, and beat Cambell A LOT worse than CSU did.

Yep. I see a paper tiger.

Beat:
2-5 Citadel 32-29
Div II? Shorter 23-15. WTF is "Shorter"? Is there a team "Taller" in whatever Div II/NAIA conference they come from?
1-5 non scholly Cambell 30-10
2-4 Norfolk St 14-7
1-5 ASU 27-24
Div II N Greenville 28-14
1-5 VMI 25-17

They have coming up:
@ Colorado
4-3 UNCC
@ 1-4 Presbyterian
6-0 CCU
@ 4-3 G Webb
3-3 Liberty

So the 5 Div I teams they have beaten have a combined record of 7-24, by an avg of only about 8 points. Throw in an 8 point win over whatever "Shorter" is and by 14 over another Div II in N. Greenville.

They have 5 Div I teams coming up with a combined record of 18-13, plus a Pac 12 team. I could see them finishing 8-5 or 9-4, and with 2 Div II and a non scholly Pioneer to boot, that won't get them an At Large. They are going to have to win 10, may 11 to get an At Large... :coffee:
