BLACK FALKIN's suggestions:

1: I've said it before and Ill say it again. Conference mandated stadium capacity minimums/attendance minimums. I think the Big Sky shd set a minimum bar of 20k minimum Stadium capacity and 10k minimum avg attendance.. ppl inside the stadium gates. Or else you're out! 1st time warning w/1 season grace period.. not at quota by 2nd season after warning and YOU'RE OUT! btw before you wet your pants... 10k isn't that hard and if you don't want to invest in your program and put the best product out there, move outta D1!!

and that brings me to #2...

2: Remove at least 30-50 teams out of FCS into D2. Don't meet the attendance/ stadium requirements? find a D2 home. no harm no foul.. keep your team, keep your rival (via non-conf games whenever possible) but gtfoutta here. Don't Participate in playoffs? Gtfoutta here. keep your 'classics' and 200 year old annual rivalry games but don't call it FCS. Take your entire conference into Division 2 classification. This would cut the fat off of FCS ball, which holds it back imo.

3: Less cupcake(d2) games. More FCS v FCS non-conf games.


I love the FCS and that's my take. What do you think would make the FCS better?

Winner of the FCS playoffs gets a spot in the FBS playoffs. Of course this means finishing the FCS playoffs in December with possibly fewer teams, fewer rounds.

EWU has only averaged 8,000 fans a game this year. Sure you have only had two games, but if it wasn't that hard, how come you haven't done it yet.

(and before you ask, the Cats average over 3 games is at 19,960)

last season, only 29 schools averaged 10K in attendance. and some of those schools who did are in conferences that don't do the playoffs. (and some are transitioning to FBS).

and if such rules were instituted, most schools would probably drop football so as to keep their other sports (or at least MBB) in division I

and looking at this year's attendance figures, there are only 34 averaging 10K, and taking out the Ivy and SWAC teams, you have 25

That would keep Idaho out of the big sky.

I personally don't think the capacity/attendance thing would do anything for the game, I really don't. There is no sense in making someone build a 20K seat stadium to have 4K attend.

If the school puts someone on the job of building the brand of the schools GAMEDAY and building attendance numbers the attendance numbers will rise. Most schools get at least 50% of their stadium cap bro beans. EWU's gets 100% bro breans. All the sky schools get at least 50%+ of their stadium cap except psu bc that's not their stadium and therefor they can be added to this equation. I'm in the zone chief.

Falling to DII requires that the whole athletics program fall to DII, not just football. There's obviously no way the suggested idea above could possibly work in any vague way. There just aren't enough football fans around. All this would do is force a bunch of schools to drop football entirely.

Kick out the problematic SoCon schools.

You're proving my point further. No fans = nobody is gonna miss the team. Do like cal state north ridge and long beach state and close up shop. U can't tell me there's not enough fans in SoCal. What's ur excuse there? Ur shxt doesn't hold water bro beans.

School wasn't in session yet for the first game of the season. We had almost 10k at the Weber game and should get around that same number until the weather gets really shitty when some folks start staying at home. Roos field technically only has 8700 permanent seats, so when we are drawing 9-11k fans we're actually well over capacity (temp seats).

The NCAA isn't going to institute a policy that would force 3/4 of FCS football teams to shut down. That's insane, not to mention something like that would have to be voted on. If that did happen, FCS would just be eliminated and all the remaining teams would be turned into Idahoes struggling in vain to play in shitty bowls in places like Boise. Everyone would lose in that scenario.

Northridge shut down because their stadium was damaged in the earthquake, they apparently couldn't/didn't want to spend the money to fix it, and the Big Sky kicked them out for it thus leaving them as the unwanted Idaho of I-AA.

Answer:
Let the 70 or so major programs break away from the rest of the FBS programs. The remaining FBS and the full scholarship FCS programs then combine to form the "second level" of college football.

Maine averages 6K per game.......Delaware averages 18K per game........Maine beat Delaware 62-28.

Go figure.

What kind of attendance does Maine hockey get?

Require every team to have an FCS inter-regional home-and-home, every 4 or 5 years. And once you've committed to it, you can't back out after you've played the home half without paying a massive penalty, such forfeiting playoff eligibility in the year in question.

FCS would be much better if they required their graduates and fans to be able to communicate their ideas clearly in writing. Those ideas would also not involve taxing other peoples pockets and/or intelligence.
