21-13 Hornets atm.... Thunder driving near mid-field.
I just hope Cantu can keep it together at QB for SUU and move us to 3-1 before official conference play begins.

Has there been some SUU turnovers? What's going on?

I would suspect that the weather is a key issue tonight. One of our best posters at Sac Buzz was convinced that that would favor SUU because one of the best safeties in our history has graduated, but given the score at the moment, it may be a case of who has the ball last....

SUU drove all the way from their own 1, then threw a pick at the goal line.
Never mind, I guess they called it incomplete.
Then Sac got another pick, but had it wiped out by roughing the passer.

Negated by penalty, then it happens again. CLOWN FOOTBALL!

Wasn't incomplete, it was hands to the face.

WOW. 2PC tipped up, then caught along the side of the EZ by another WR.

Sheesh, Southern Utah has to be the luckiest team ever.

Sac is undefeated in overtime this year, so SUU is screwed.

Pathetic first possession for Sac.

Thank you Sac kicker. I will be perfect on my BSC picks this week.

That 2-pt was actually bogus for TWO reasons. They held our DL #94, plain as day. The zebras were TRYING to give this game to SUU. They were either paid off, or there were orders from the league office for this. SMH....

I am thoroughly perplexed as to why Sac would kneel with :31 on the clock when they could have at least tried to get into field goal range. Then again, field goal range didn't pan out so well for them in OT.
SUU moves to 3-1... this one wasn't pretty, but we'll take the win off the Sac field

The SUU WR was clearly out of bounds before coming back in to make the reception on the two point conversion. Should have been 21-19 Sac State win,

Pass was deflected, so I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter.
SUU was still absurdly lucky, though, and Sac once again proves their complete lack of mental toughness.

That and he may have been forced out of bounds before coming back in, either way though it was not pretty ill take the W, its always a hard fought game between us and Sac State, way to go T-Birds!

Typical Hornet ending. Hornet defense plays ok and then completely falls apart on the final drive. Stupid penalties (some blown, but that is par for the course in the BSC for Hornet fans) played a significant role. Overall just piss poor discipline by the defense.
Offense did fine but failed to land the final blow. Offense was taken completely out of sync in the 2nd to last drive when all they did was stand around and run clock. Then kneeling on it with 30 seconds and 2 TOs failed to allow the offense to at least get some rhythm before OT.
Our kicker is awful, doubt another FG will be attempted this season. Bottom line is our season is over. I hope our AD has the balls to hit the reset button and bring in a new HC. Sperbeck isn't going to get this program over the middle of the road hump.

Yeah as I understand it, since Cantu's pass was tipped by the initial SUU receiver and then caught by the second receiver coming back in bounds, it's legit. Had McNabb (the receiver to come back in bounds and make the grab) been the first receiver to touch the ball then it would have been over and no OT.
All that aside, you just gotta love the game eh?

Say what you will about the horrible officiating (the missed holding call on the 2-pt conversion, the made-up fouls that made the TD possible, the bogus roughing the passer penalty on the 100+-yard pick six, etc.), Venus hits the nail on the head with this. Had the Hornets coaches and players done their job, the horrible officiating would not have mattered. The failure to bring in a reliable kicker, the repeated showboating on defense (Odiase is an idiot to repeat the behavior just two or three plays after he was flagged for exactly the same thing, as questionable as the call was), and the stupid play-calling by the dummy OC during crunch time all say one thing: Sperbeck is done. As adamant as I normally am against in-season firings, I'm about ready to fire the entire staff RIGHT NOW, bring in a retired guy with no horse in the fight as a caretaker for the remainder of the season (which is already shot) and use the extra time for a proper search for a new HC. Sperbeck has clearly lost control of this team (if he ever had it), and his assistants (particularly the one he pulled amid high fanfare from SUU, who seemed as if he were secretly trying to coach for SUU in this one) are pathetic. It's time for them to go.

Should be an interesting one in Greeley next week. SUU versus UNC. Who do you have winning it?
