JMU probably shouldn't have lost that game. Outgained Akron 498 to 356. In 4th quarter went for a 2 pt conversion to tie the game and got stopped.

Turnovers. Birdsong threw a pick. Also JMU has a very talented rFr TB who has put the ball on the carpet 3x in the last 2 games. Last week in the 4th qtr vs CCSU at the JMU 20 led to the 2nd CCSU TD. This week in the 2nd qtr at the JMU 16 yd line led to Akron TD.

Late in the 4th qtr JMU driving for winning FG and get a stupid 15 yd PF call followed by bad clock management (Mickey getting crucified on the JMU board for not leaving any timeouts for the 4th qtr). Game ends with JMU at Akron 27 yd line with no opportunity to attempt the winning FG...

Good news is JMU appears to have a passing game. Birdsong went 29 for 42, 310 yds, 3 TDs, 1 INT.

Defense was disappointing. Was good against the run, only giving up 69, but gave up 287 against the pass. Starting 2 rFr corners and their inexperience is showing. Hopefully will get their best DL, 2012 3rd team All CAA DE Tyler Snowe, back in the next week or 2. He's been out with a hamstring injury. That should help...

Yeah, JMU sh*t the bed and should have won. Of the 4 close CAA I-A losses by a TD or less JMU is the only one that dominated statistically but still lost.

WVU out gained W&M 409-309. Turnovers were even at 1 apiece.

Should UR have beaten State? I don't know. Looking at the stats NC State with their backup QB (starter went down in opener) out gained UR 444-316, but turned the ball over 4X (2 INT, 2 lost fumbles) to 2X for UR (2 lost fumbles).

Even more of a disparity with UNH & C Mich. C Mich out gained UNH 524-361, turnovers were even, by C Mich only managed to win by 2.

On the topic of Fordham knocking off VU, I know Fordham went scholly a few years ago which the Patriot didn't then want to do. So FU became ineligible for the Patriot autobid. The Patriot has now gone scholly but I see FU still doesn't count in the Patriot standings and is still ineligible for the Patriot autobid (I didn't know that- had assumed when Patriot went scholly FU became eligible again. So FU is ineligible for doing what the Patriot has done. WTF?

What's screwed up is Fordham with a win over Nova could very well finish 10-2 or 11-1 (they still have @ Temple, Lehigh, and @ Colgate). Which means the Patriot will likely get 2 teams in- FU and either Colgate or Lehigh, the pre season #1 and #2 picks, respectively. Colgate was the pre season pick to win the Patriot, and they very well could get the auto at 7-5 or 8-4 (they've already lost to Albany and have @ UNH, SBU, @ LU, and Fordham (which would't count as a Conference game).
