A few years ago, Eastern went into Washington and almost beat the Huskies, then turned around and got beat by South Dakota.

Will this be the case this time? Will the sudden exposure get to Adams' head? I think EWU loses at least one of the games. I am leaning toward Toledo.

Eastern isnt going to suprise anyone anymore.

You were ranked 32nd this preseason among FCS quarterbacks, according to one evaluator. Any thoughts on that assessment?
I don’t like to look at that stuff. When I was young I used to always follow the hype, the ranked quarterbacks, star quarterbacks. But I don’t look at it anymore. I’m blessed and I’m thankful God put me in this position. I don’t care about numbers—I just want to get us to our ultimate goal, the [FCS] national championship.

I could see us beating Toledo and losing to SHSU, only if Adams cramps up is out for more than a quarter. Otherwise I think there's a decent chance we could be 4-0.

Just don't lose until you come visit Montana.

Would you like to elaborate on your reasons why? I personally am not interested in the Toledo game but I would like to see reasons for the Kats game.

SHSU's defense got weaker. SHSU's defense isn't as talented as OSU's. SHSU's defense couldn't stop Vernon Adams. Adams will get to play the full game, instead of just half.

SHSU's defense couldn't stop Vernon Adams. Adams will get to play the full game, instead of just half.
That's probably the best argument. But, on the other hand, there were some EWU receivers who played during that second half that Sam Houston State couldn't handle once Adams came in and could get the ball to them and they aren't there anymore.

Really tough to get a read on how much having only 11 starters back has hurt Sam Houston State because they opened with Houston Baptist. And it'll still be hard to get a read unless they either beat or seriously scare Texas A&M this week. In any case it's a very interesting inter conference matchup coming up.

All that said: It would not be a shock at this point to see EWU beat both Toledo and Sam Houston State to start off 4-0. At the same time I don't think one should get TOO excited about beating a top 25 FBS. Remember that James Madison beat a ranked Virginia Tech team ithat went on to win the ACC championship in 2010 but ended up 6-5 and home during the post season. A LONG way to go. Beating Oregon State doesn't guarantee ANYTHING.

God. That would be like how our presidential elections have become. Choosing the lesser of two vomit-inducing evils and hoping the 3rd place team actually wins.

In no way do I believe that EWU rolls through it's schedule (which is very difficult) based on the outcome of one game. Each game is its own.

Of the three remaining OOC games, the only one I am highly confident of winning is WOU. That opinion is shared by most. I actually think the most likely outcome is we drop one of those games and start off 3-1, which I am ok with. Both Toledo and SHSU will be huge challenges because they are back-to-back road games against two very good teams. Fatigue will be a factor, as will the limits in the travel roster.

We do need to beat one of them, though, because the WOU game is a non-counter and at this point we need 7 more DI wins to make the playoffs. The likelyhood of going through the Big Sky without more than 1 loss isn't very big, meaning we need to get a split with Toledo and SHSU.

I think Toledo is a weak team and, although its a Toledo home game, I think Eastern Washington is thorough enough to take down its second fbs team this season. Most important players wont see too much field time if/when Eastern gets a big lead on western Oregon.

Sam Houston is a good team but they'll be coming off a somewhat fresh ass-beating from Heisman trophy winner Johnny Manzel and the gang so they'll be hurting and not in best form to face the Eagles. ALSO!!!! I saw Eastern come right back on sam Houston last year and they (shsu) were lucky to get out alive. I think EASTERN WINS EASILY AGAINST THE bearkats. That's right, im predicting a double digit win. 4-0 boi. :coffee:

Agreed with most, however they're not quite back to back, as we get a bye inbetween them to rest up. Also, with the SoS consideration with the selection committee this year, I'm not so sure WOU is a non counter. As long as we get into the 7-8 win range, the win over a ranked BCS team will certainly help mitigate a win over a D-II.

I think DII wins now count for the selection committee. EWU will have the 1 or 2 seed this year.
