2013 Charleston Southern Football Preview

There’s a new look to Charleston Southern Football in 2013. Jamey Chadwell took over as the third head coach in program history last January, and leads the Bucs into their 23rd season on the gridiron with great enthusiasm. Not only does CSU have a new head coach. The Bucs also have new Nike uniforms showing off the CSU blue and gold, and they hope to make their mark in them as the program kicks off a new era in 2013.

There are a lot of good nuggets of information in the preview.

I like what I'm hearing and what I'm reading. The culture has changed and changed in a BIG way. This will not be the same CSU team seen in recent years.

There is a new intensity and mentality that has been missing. In my opinion, we have been too soft and not tough (physically or mentally). I believe that has changed because it has come from the top. Coach Chadwell is one tough, intense dude.

It is time for us to push people around and smack people in the face. I look forward to seeing intensity, speed, and physicality. I want to see our defense blow people up and separate people from the ball. Play with swagger and if you make a big play, let the competition know it. I don't mind some attitude and some trash talking.

I know we are a Christian school, but that doesn't mean we have to be soft and timid. I am pumped about the direction and future of Charleston Southern football.

That's why we have the Citadel on the schedule.

Don't forget, we were tied at halftime last year. We lacked the mental and physical toughness to win the second half. This is a new day.

So you are predicting a win?

No, what he is predicting is a Buc team that is in better condition and deeper across the board and a different outcome of the 2nd half than last year. Let's put it this way. Like the game back the last series before this one, you guys may come away with a win, but you will know you have been in a dog fight when the dust settles.

CSU is going to come out and play hard as usual, but they will be playing the most talented El Cid team since 1992, perhaps more so. Smart money is on another 3 score W for the Bulldogs.

So it's a new day-

and therefore this year you will have the mental and physical toughness to win the second half

But you still expect to lose..
