The last of the "Big 3" signs with an NFL team

Along with Kaufman (Bills), and Herd (Seahawks), Nick Edwards signed today with the Cardinals. Has an FCS school ever put three WR's in rookie camps in the same year?

Pretty sure Montana has done it several times. 2007 and last year come to mind.

Three wide receivers? Which three wide receivers did Montana have in rookie camps in 2007? Mariani comes to mind but I thought he was later on?

Ya, that was the distinction I was trying to make. I know UM puts guys in every year - but I was wondering if any FCS school has ever put three WR's in rookie camps in the same year, or if this is a first.

I will take that bet for any amount of money you want to put out there, big fella. And practice squads don't count. They ALL THREE have to be on opening day active 53-man rosters of an NFL team.

The funny thing about this thread is that I was mocked by select Griz fans a year ago when I said that EWU had three NFL-caliber WRs. :coffee:

And yes, there is a difference between NFL receiver and NFL caliber receiver. :twocents:

We weren't mocking you for THAT....we were just mocking you in general. 8-)

edit: so, is that a yes on the bet? :suspicious:

That's a no, on the bet. Herd will have a hard time making the Hawks roster unless they cut a draft pick. They're only keeping 6 WRs and 4 RB/FBs, or 5 WRs and 5 RB/FBs...

WR: Percy Harvin, Sidney Rice, Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin, Chris Harper (2013 4th round pick)
RB: Marshawn Lynch, Robert Turbin, Christine Michael (2013 2nd round pick), Michael Robinson, Spencer Ware (2013 6th round pick)

He certainly has the talent and drive, but it's a very long shot with the depth Seattle has.
“It’s going pretty well,” Herd said. “The biggest part was getting the mental part of it down with the playbook. It’s getting a lot easier on the field, so I’m enjoying it.”

Herd, who lives in Tacoma, said he traveled to team headquarters before training camp to watch all of his videos from offseason work and see where he needed to improve.

Seattle’s top receiver from last season, Sidney Rice, also has been a steadying influence for Herd.

“He’s been a big mentor for me so far,” Herd said. “Not even me asking him stuff, but him telling me stuff that he sees. He’s paying attention to stuff that I’m doing, and he’s been a big help so far these first three days.”

“He’s got a great work ethic,” Rice said about Herd. “Running down the field, I try to coach up all the guys as much as possible. I want us to be the best receiving core that we can be, no matter who is out there. And I think Greg has a lot of talent. He listens well and doesn’t make the same mistake twice.”

Nick Edwards will have a little easier time in AZ... Fitz, Michael Floyd, Andre Roberts, and then a bunch of rookies and no name 2nd year guys.

I'd be really surprised if Kaufman didn't make the Bills roster.

I hear ya. But whether they all make teams or not, it's still a pretty nifty accomplishment for an FCS school to have three players of the same position in NFL rookie camps from the same class.

But there still won't be a drop off in talent between this season and last, amirite? ;)

Not at all, the Eagles will have 4 WRs in NFL rookie camps next year.

Funny how Griz fans pray "THIS IS THE YEAR EWU WONT HAVE ENOUGH TALENT TO BEAT US!" truth is, EWU is a title contender as long as Baldwins' the HC. Bank it. You best pray EWU doesnt go thru with the Stadium expansion....... Bc if they do :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: Its gonna be bad for you.

Why would that be bad for us? Just means we can bring over even more people every other year. :coffee:
