App State vs. UNCC possibly?

The news Monday that Old Dominion has pulled out of its football game at Charlotte in 2014 seems to have reignited discussion about the chances of the 49ers and Appalachian State establishing a series, possibly beginning in 2014 in the scheduling spot left open by the Monarchs' departure.
It's a rivalry that makes too much sense not to happen. And it will. It's just a matter of when, not if.

Gotta love the ASU hatred in the comments, all from a team that hasn't even taken a snap yet.

Yeah, I hadn't heard that either. It would be like a home game for ASU since a huge amount of the alumni base live nearby. The comments are like an AGS squabble.

The Hwy 49ers can't afford Appalachian in 2014 ... and the only way the Mountaineers would consider giving up a home game would be to play in the NFL stadium (unlikely to happen in mid-season) with a guarantee 10x (+) that of the ODU buy-out.
And ... I didn't realize we were leaving an established BCS conference
(the author clearly meant FCS)
