It's cool and I like Wilson, but "epitome" is a bit too strong on the hyperbole for me. Peyton Manning is the king when it comes to franchise QBs in NFL history. He's also another NFL guy with his own passing academy.

Adams is gonna need all the help he can get this year. He doesn't have WR that will constantly bail him out like Kaufman did. The ewho expectations are unrealistically high and he will fall very very short of even matching Padrons propped up hype.

1. Beat out two veterans for the starting job... got better every week as the season progressed.
2. Was the first in to the practice facility and last out... about 13 hours every day. Always in the film room (from coaches and other player accounts).
3. Instant leader in the locker room and on the field... organized off season workouts in CA.
4. Role model off the field... visiting kids in the Children's Hospital every week, Passing Academy for inner-city kids, etc.

Not hyperbole to me at all.

This is all quite possible. It seems like McGhee has regressed as a passer. That being said, VA has the potential to be great, the cupboard ain't exactly bare at WR, it's not as though we've had trouble replacing offensive production, and I think our D will be improved.

The biggest concern is VA's durability.

We shall see.

So is he looking to learn something from EWU's FBS transfers?

Huh? Adams isn't an FBS transfer. Russell Wilson invited Adams and other EWU players to help coach kids at his passing academy.

I looked up the Madden quote- he said he reminded him of Manning...not a direct comparison. Just playing devil's advocate. To be clear, I like Russell Wilson. Again, he is merely another in a long line of guys who have been franchise QBs. The problem is that he's only been there one year. Franchise QB is a term that to me suggests you have some long-term staying power. Talk to me in 5 years if he's still there.

This list goes back as far as the NFL does and while the term is perhaps not that old, the expectations of a QB to be a leader and role model and good football player are as old as the position itself. How many guys have been good at all 3? Both Mannings, Johnny Unitas, Terry Bradshaw, Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Bart Starr, Norm van Brocklin, Joe Theismann, John Elway, Phil Simms, Fran Tarkenton, Warren Moon, Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly, Kurt Warner, Donovan McNabb, Y.A. Tittle, Otto Graham, Randall Cunningham- almost all (I'll let older folks correct me on the older guys if I'm wrong about them) can be considered franchise QBs and likely WERE considered franchise QBs. Feel free to add more guys. I'm sure I missed a few.

Has nothing to do with you liking or disliking the guy, but with your statement that calling him the epitome of a franchise QB is hyperbole, when in fact, it isn't, as he has demonstrated all the qualities that the ideal franchise QB should possess, both on and off the field. Just because I'm not there in person to document those qualities, doesn't make it any less valid to label him as such. Sheesh.

RW will have a mid par year. Teams will figure out his issues and play to them. You can only throw side armed and of your backfoot so long. The film shows his weakness....a young QB like RW has a long way to go. He's unorthodox and that usually means moderate success. He won't be a superstar I don't think. He doesn't have the true fundamentals. He uses his feet which is great...but ass how many teams want to sign Kolb,Vick,Romo to big extensions...... not many........ He might be the usual one that works but hes working against the odds.

No kidding. But we've already been through that (see Paul Wulff). Compliance wouldn't have authorized it if it wasn't completely volunteer work. The athletic department is pretty strict on that stuff these days.

3. Win a playoff game every season those first five years.

7. Sign a highest paid player contract.

6 and 7 are ridiculous assertions to make. I bet Flacco throws an INT in the playoffs this year. The contract is up to whatever his team wants to pay him. If the Ravens didn't want to pay him that money than he wouldn't be worth that money.

Yep. What amounted to some meals before the dorms were open, a volunteer coach who supposedly counts towards total numbers of coaches, and some unauthorized "official" practices = lack of institutional control, loss of scholarships, loss of a full time coach, and playoff ban. And these were self reported violations with the offending coach having already left for another school. At least the playoff ban was lifted. It is what it is I guess.

How do you see the investigation at UM going down? Do you think there will even be any sanctions at all? It is difficult to discern fact from fiction or even what it is exactly they are/were investigating.
