EWU, SHSU, UNH, App, UNI, UM too low.

MSU, SDSU, UCA, NAU, Wagner, TN St, TN-Chattanooga too high.

NDSU just right.

I know I am a homer, but no Cal Poly stands out to me. Cal Poly finished 2012 ranked and they return 18 staters off that team. Cal Poly has finished ranked 7 out of the last 9 seasons. Lindy's left Cal Poly out last year too so at least they are consistent.

ECB. A team from Cali could win the title (right now, most likely CP), but they'd leave them out of the next season's rankings as if they don't exist.

Yeah, that makes them a shitty, worthless poll . Fuckin eh... Do your homework.

GSU and App St out, as they cannot play for the championship.

Dead on; add CPSLO to the "too low" list and Bethune-Cookman to the too high list. In fact replace the latter with the former.

SDSU is going to be tough this year. Defense will be better and ZZ will be tough as nails again.

UNI plays them in Brookings this year.....no home cooking for the Panthers this year. In fact, SDSU probably has the most favorable conference schedule this year: UNI-NDSU-SIU-In State all at home, plus they do not have Ill State this year.

Who the hell is ZZ?

SDSU's RB - Zach Zenner....he rushed for over 2K yds last year

He struggled against teams in the conference with even respectable defenses

Take his big runs away and he wasn't impressive. Now the big ones still happened so it is what it is.

In his games against UNI, SIU, NDSU, and ysu (5 games) he went for only 337 yards on 83 carries...4.0 yards per carry.

Good for him and his offense funding a way for him to break big runs against UCDavis, WIU, ISUB, MSU, EIU and USD...

I don't see him having that many 60 yard runs again this year

You want to go that route then take the 2 NDSU games out where he had 29 carries for 89 yds in 2 games and he had 54 carries for 248 yds for a 4.6 ave against UNI-SIU-YSU. I'm sure most coaches would take a 4.6 yd/carry against those teams.

SDSU plays 12 games this year. He'll easily go for 1500 +

getting 30 carries a game like he does I hope so.

I'll take David Johnson every day of the week over Zenner.

SDSU is solid. They always have been. They are going to win games and be a playoff contender. But they are not elite, and they are not a top 5 team.

Take away ANY running back's "big runs" and they don't look all that impressive. NAU's horse that ran all over UM last year "wasn't that impressive" in 30 of his 35 carries. It was the other 5 that killed us.

I read that rag yesterday and I can say without any hesitation it isn't worth the paper it is printed on. Even the comments on the different teams and conferences were off the mark.

Andre Broadous and Deonte Williams were/are great players and will be missed but Cal Poly has more experience and talent coming back this year than they have had in the last 5 + years.

In addition, they may have more talent at QB amongst the 4 competing for the job than they have ever had ....and I mean ever.... like ever ever. ;)

I'm surprised to see the Terriers at #5 with the loss of Breitenstein and their DC to App.

You still have nearly 0 college experience between any of them. Don't tell me what they did in high school. Every DI QB's stats in high school were good. That's why he's DI.

You lost your top two (for sure, and I think I read maybe three?) scorers from last year. The QB makes your team because of the nature of your offense. Your team is good overall, but it's not crazy for people to take a "wait and see" approach to a team with no experience at QB coming back.

Look at Montana the last two years (and you'll see again this year) at how big a difference a competent and experienced QB makes. We have/had a similarly complicated offense that revolves around the QB making quick, smart decisions. Lose the QB, and everything can go bad in a hurry.

I'm not ready to say you're better than last year due to that fact alone. IF the next QB turns out to be all world for Poly, then by all means crow away, but there's no evidence right now to say he will be.

Will be surprised if any of these teams finish that high, unless they don't play anyone.
