I wonder if all his political organizing after the anti-Williams petition came out backfired in the end. It appeared to turn what was mostly a non-partisan issue into a partisan one. And since his party doesn't control the Senate…

All I can say is that I'd have wanted him rejected as well if he's going to make a comment like that.
