Ironic that UNH has a defensive player invited, but its not their 3 time AA and 2011 Buchanon winner Matt Evans.

That seems like a very large amount of FCS players.

Glad to see Maysonnet on that list. The kid will be a great NFL back.

Headling the offensive group was a strong group of wide receivers: Jacksonville State's Alan Bonner, Eastern Kentucky's Tyrone Goard, Eastern Washington's Brandon Kaufman, Elon's Aaron Mellette, Tennessee Tech's Darick Rogers and Lehigh's Ryan Spadola.

There also were six offensive linemen: Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Terron Armstead, Tennessee State's Rogers Gaines, Alabama A&M's Jamaal Johnson-Webb,

Youngstown State's Lamar Mady, Cornell's J.C. Tretter and James Madison's Earl Watford.

In addition, Southern Utah quarterback Brad Sorensen and Stony Brook running back Miguel Maysonet, the 2012 Walter Payton Award runner-up, received invitations.

Defensively, there were four FCS cornerbacks: Southeastern Louisiana's Robert Alford, Appalachian State's Demetrius McCray, Sam Houston State's Dax Swanson and William & Mary's B.W. Webb.

Also invited were linebackers Brandon Hepburn of Florida A&M and Keith Pough of Howard; defensive tackles Montori Hughes of UT Martin and Jared Smith of New Hampshire; Samford defensive end Nick Williams; and Georgia Southern safety J.J. Wilcox.

Its a travesty that Southern U WR Michael Berry isn't a invitee he has the necessary size 6-3 210 and speed 4.44 to be in Houston.I hope that next year Ryan Shaw of Arkansas Pine-Bluff gets a invite he is a Free Safety 6-1 205 with cornerback speed 4.35.

To me it doesn't make sense. I know it all politically but come on, lets be fair about this.
I think you may be underestimating Tyrann Mathieu as a football player. One thing he's got going for him is that he appears to be an elite return specialist.

In 2011 Mathieu was somebody who could take over a game at the highest level of college football. Could and did. And he did it playing on defense and making big plays on returns. I really don't think there are a whole lot of guys out there who are "just as good a footbal player" as he is who aren't being invited to the combine. Always reserve the possibility that there is someone being overlooked. But I think if there are any at all it's a pretty short list.

Did you see his grade though? Unless he blows them out at combine he will be a free agent pickup with that score.
