Why is Weber's Attendence Numbers So Low??

Just wondering (this is more directed to wildcatryan and all the other weber fans, (even though they dont seem to be any others!

). Here you have a class program that just got to the playoffs, had a dominating season and won a share of the Big Sky title and yet your numbers barely top 1,700 usually!. Is it just because no one in Ogden wants to go to the games or what?

excuse me for answering BUT, I think its because
1. Ogden is a small city.
2. byu, utah, & utah st. are all d-1, & weber being d1aa has smaller facilities, & less money for advertising.
3. weber has a history of 1-10 seasons. even 0-11 a couple years back.
4. that silly purple track. stadiums with tracks tend to come up short on attendance.
5. its cold most of the season in ogden, not a good thing for non-diehard fans.
6. they have to compete with 4 other d1 schools.
+++reason 6 in depth.+++
montana & msu = 1 other d1 in state
portland st = 2 other d1
eastern = 2 other d1
nau = 2 other d1
sac= 10 other d1 schools
NorCol= 3 other d1
idaho st 2 other d1
the schools with 1 other div 1 school should average from 10,000-20,000
schools with 2 other schools should average from 5,000-10,000
the schools with more than 2 other div 1 schools in state, YOU SHOULD EXPECT their attendance to average lower than 5,000.
this applies ONLY to WEST COAST div1aa schools. God! im smart

Except for that last part, I would say that is the case. Villanova suffers from the same factors as well as one other huge one, and I believe that Weber also suffers from it,
basketball.

AAAAYOOOOO! yes wideright,most small schools have this same problem.
but i HAD to put the disclaimer bc the erectile dysfunction spokesman aka AZGRIZFAN was going to follow me in here and say :
[goofball voive] "blackfalkin... your set of rules doesnt apply to +insert exception school+ university. so your wrong bfalkin. blah blah"
but yes most div1aa football/ small school teams also fall into this generalization.

Weber State has never ( sadly to say ) had a good consistent football program.
But Weber has the fans, they just need to come out of hiding.
Stewart Stadium holds 17,500, last year we averaged 7,000. But there have been times when Stewart Stadium was filled. In McBrides first year in his first game, Weber hosted Western State and beat them 61-0 in front of 17,598 fans, the game was called earely due to lightning. That was only 4 years ago.
Another reason I think depends on how big the crowd gets is, that alot of Weber's fans actually are Utah and BYU fans, not so much USU fans(they dont want to watch a team thats better than themselves). Usually when Utah and BYU are on the road and Weber is at home, I see hundreds of BYU and Utah fans at Stewart Stadium, of course most of them live north of Salt Lake.
Having said that, Weber State does not get any attention from the local media in Utah, unless your Utah, BYU or Utah State, your not worth the media time, even if you are doing really good or better than the other 3. So fans that live in the Salt Lake, Sandy, and West Valley area dont hear about Weber State's football team, even when they are making history. Because the Salt Lake based media refuses to say anything. the only thing they said about Weber's playoff game was where it was at, and when it was.
Now when it came to the game vs EWU last season, I was hopeing for a big crowd, and was dissapointed to find out only 9,000 fans showed up, Its a good fan base considering it was the largest of the season, but it was also on the same day of the Holy War between Utah and BYU, so no BYU and Utah fans showed up. Now I know Weber lost so its their own faults, but if Weber would of hosted a tourny game, (which I still think they should have played at home to Cal Poly), Weber I guarantee would have had a great croud, 15,000+. Which is more than the 6,000 that were at the Cal Poy/Weber game at Cal Poly.
If Weber keeps having seasons like last year, the fans will come. In the past, when Weber would have a good season, like in 2001 when Weber went 8-4, they would turn around and have a season the next year of 1-10, ( lone win vs Idaho State ). They are never consistent. But if Weber can have another good year this year and next year, and make the playoffs again, the crowds will come. And maybe, just maybe the State of Utah will give us some respect.

What its not cold in Logan or Salt Lake or Provo? all 4 Universities are built on a side of a Mountain, they are all cold during football season.

Nah, Weber always seems to have a decent basketball crowd, This year we average 6,000 in a stadium that holds 12,000. Their basketball teams have better history than their football teams, 17 Big Sky basketball titles (leads Big Sky) to 3 Big Sky football titles, all 3 have been shared.

Notice i said. "non diehard fans..." meaning, if they arent diehard fans, they WONT come.
Now wildcat ryan....... you are slightly out of your mind if you think
1. saltlake city media is gonna give attentions to a small div1aa, news is a business just like any other, they are gonna report what the MAJORITY is familiar with. not smaller schools, even if weber won the nc, they might do a small 5 minute story. TOPS!
2. if you need a study guide.. refer back to my chart and see # of div1 schools in state. thats gonna be
[[DISCLAIMER]] MORE THAN LIKELY [[DISCLAIMER]] the case with funding, enrollment, fans, alumni, size of stadiums and other facilities, media coverage, quality of players. u name it.

Yeah I know, it just pisses me off when I turn on the tv to watch the local sports show, like on Oct 4th when Weber beat Montana, they showed the score and thats it they didnt talk about it, But they went into a lengthy conversation about BYU beating Lowly Wyoming at home 44 to 0.
Football I can understand, but Basketball on the other hand, and all Big Sky fans know about Weber's basketball history. They dont say crap about our basketball team, and it has just as much or more history than the other 3. I mean Weber is 4-0 vs North Carolina.
I feel really bad for SUU, they are NEVER even mentioned in the news, unless they play Utah or BYU.

Ah, yes. The last bastion of the desperate imbicile--changing posts in some sophomoric, error filled attempt to be funny. Congratulations. You've reached the pinnacle of stupidity, moron. I realize that 3-syllable words are too big for you, correct spelling is an anomaly in your world, and punctuation is optional, but everyone else here understands.
