Stony Brook running backs

Accidentally posted the first language which was intended for a different title. Hopefully I get this in before anyone responds.

I was watching Stony Brook and they mentioned that a Stony Brook back was a NFL prospect. So I looked at the NFLDraftScout site to see what it had to say. In my experience that site has been pretty close in terms of who gets drafted and when.

When I looked I saw that one Stony Brook back is rated 13th in the 2013 NFL draft class and and another one is rated 16th in the 2014 class. To put that in perspective, Tim Flanders of Sam Houston State is rated 34th in the 2014 class.

That's what I would call loaded at running back for a FCS team.

Did I also see that 3 of 4 starters in Stony Brook's secondary are Cali kids? How did that happen?

Wow I didn't know that. I watched their game vs. Syracuse and I thought they looked really good. Lookout Montana St!

Yeah I know. They needed them today though because their starting QB is out with an injury. They only threw six passes but one of their backs went for 160 and the other for 107. The TV announcers didn't know if their starting QB will be back for Montana State.

Either way it's the first time I've seen them play and they've got athletes. They've got athletes at running back and athletes up front on defense. And the cold isn't going to bother them. If Sam Houston State gets by Cal Poly they might not have to play on the road in the second round because Montana State might get knocked off.. I guess if I have to I'd favor Montana State, especially if Stony Brook's starting QB is still out. But that team has some studs so right now that's looking pretty interesting.

Miguel Maysonet is going to be an NFL star.

Coker rushed for 1300 yards in th Big Ten lat year and very well could end up a 2-3rd round pick next year after he becomes SBU's feature back.

IMO, they are two of the best RBs in the country. They just happen to play for the same team.

I could see Stony Brook upsetting MSU if they can play good defense like today. I think SHSU would shut down their run game though.

I could definitely see it happening, should be a great match up.

The way to beat SBU is to get out ahead of them. They will absolutely kill the clock if they're in the lead. That's what they did to Nova today. They ended up with 40mins of possession.

Liberty got out ahead and forced them to pass which is not their game. That forced turnovers. SBU doesn't play from behind well.

I have been saying that since they took the bearkats to the brink in round 2 last year; Stoney brook is the real deal. I will be pulling for the Seawolfs next week.

Kyle Essington will play next week so you will see some stud wide receivers in the mix, that were non factors today namely Kevin Norel and Jordan Gush. Gonna be an interesting afternoon in Montana. Actually our rookie QB did well 3-6 including a 20 yarder to our fullback.

When I posted I didn't realize Coker is an Iowa transfer who did well in the Big 10. What's interesting is that Maysonet is the one rated slightly closer to the top in his class (13th in the 2013 class vs. Coker's 16th in the 2014 class). Also, Maysonet was the more productive back of the two yesterday. He had 160 yards on 25 carries vs. Coker's 107 yards on 29 carries.

Have you seen this kid play? He has NFL size, speed and talent.

He's the real deal.

NFL stardom is a difficult thing to predict, especially for an FCS player, but I've seen them both play and Maysonet is the real deal. Good speed, exceptional balance, great vision and exceptional footwork. The only you're going to slow him down is hit him before he squares up his shoulders. How Hofstra originally signed him is beyond me. Coker is certainly big and fast and has a bright future but I think he's still a project at this point. He needs to mature before he could be considered a draft pick.

I can see that. MSU has had a problem stopping the run all year. I would feel a lot better if it was a team that could throw the ball, but you get what you are dealt. I guess there is always next year. Does anyone think that the elevation will be an issue at all?

I kind of doubt it. Cal Poly plays close to sea level, and they went into Laramie (~7,000 ft) this year and got a W.

Of course you didn't say that. Instead, you provided an informative comment beginning with :shocking: and ending with :loko: .

That's some damned good fact-filled commentary you provided to refute sourced information about Stony Brook having two of the best RBs in the country.

Keep up the good work.
