#19 South Dakota State @ #1 North Dakota State
Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome
Fargo, North Dakota
Saturday, December 1, 2012
3:00pm CST
Game couldn't be much bigger. NDSU already won the Dakota Marker, but this game is for a lot more than some rivalry trophy. This will also be the 100th meeting between NDSU and SDSU. Couldn't ask for a better setting. SDSU is good, and almost got us last time, but a bye week with extra rest and prep time on top of the playoff atmosphere inside the dome is going to be too much for the Jacks to handle. Bison win 31-17.
Highlights from NDSU's 20-17 win on November 10.

I'm more nervous on this one than the National Championship game last year against SHSU.

Me too! We were playing so well last year I was pretty confident. We could lose this week, but with a win this game will also set the tone for the rest of our playoff run. Need to have a good day and build upon it each week! Go Bison!

Yes, this will be a tough one for the Bison.
I'm confident that the Bison defense will do the same as before. They held the Jacks for most of the game until the final drive when they played a prevent. Bison shut down Zenner and will do it again this saturday.
The Bison offense needs to keep the ball off the turf. If they do not commit any TOs then they win...if the turnover bug arrives again then it will be close or the Bison will lose.
The week of rest will be huge for the Bison to get some guys rested up. FD will be packed and loud.
Bison win: 31-14

Jacks win 28-17, you are welcome rest of the FCS(since none of you idiots could beat NDSU last year).......the evil plan of the Grand High Committee has worked to throw the biggest obstacle they could in front of NDSU, so there is no repeat. Unfortunately by having SDSU beat NDSU the committee has just replaced a power run team and defense with another power run team and defense from the MVFC.
Taps will be heard lightly played across the southern Canadian Suburb known as North Dakota as the Fighting Fizzonis leave the playoffs on the very day they entered it.

You couldn't beat us last year, or this year either
Think Zenner can break 50 yards this time?

For those of you who were curious, the Dakota Marker is not up for grabs in playoff games. Regular season only.
Obviously there are bigger implications from a win on Saturday than the rock though.

I like this post. Don't agree with much of it, but hey, at least I like it.

Regardless of outcome I think ZZ gets to 100 yards this week.

Two very similar teams square off for the second time in 4 weeks in the Fargo Dome. The Bison are better in most every stat, but they aren't better by much & the Jackrabbits seem to be peaking at the right time. NDSU's defensive task is a little bit easier than SDSU's, though, since shutting down Zach Zenner pretty much shuts down the Jackrabbit offense. I think they'll be able to do that just like they did on November 10th., and that will result in another close, low-scoring win.
Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:
- Quarterbacks -- North Dakota St.
Running Backs - South Dakota St.
Receivers/TEs - (push)
Offensive Line - North Dakota St.
Defensive Line - North Dakota St.
Linebackers --- North Dakota St.
Secondary ---- South Dakota St.
Kicking ------ South Dakota St.
Punting ------ North Dakota St.
Return Teams - North Dakota St.
Kickoffs ------ (push)
- South Dakota St. 13-20 North Dakota St.

SDSU doesn't have the edge in secondary. Marcus Williams is the MVFC defensive player of the year, Andre Martin is as experienced as it gets, and our safeties step up and make plays.

That's why you were the first person to bitch about the Jacks getting the advantage at DB, right?
Fans who whine about not getting enough love or respect or don't like it when they (perceive) being slighted are the worst kind of fan....and NDSU has plenty of them, sadly. I'm trying to buck the trend.

I like fans that are enthusiastic about their team. Lighten up and let him have fun.

Jeez did you have a bad day or something?
I wasn't complaining I was pointing out something to someone who most likely doesn't know as much about the two teams as someone who watches both teams closely does.
Get off my ass.

He's clearly not a true SU fan...

Williams is the best DV individually, but I think SDSU's overall secondary is a little bit better (SDSU's passing efficiency D is better).

If you're going off stats notice they have also been thrown on 170 more times than NDSU has and keep in mind that they play their games in a field in the middle of South Dakota. Not as easy to pass as in a dome. I do think they have a great secondary as the numbers show, but I'll take ours over theirs any day.

You realize I said "efficiency D", right. That's a
per attempt stat.

I do, that's where the field in SD part comes in.
Just the fact that they've been thrown on 170 more times (granted they have played 1 more game) shows me that teams aren't as afraid to throw against them though. Also noting they didn't play Ill State this year who is one of, if not the most pass happy teams in the Valley.
